The person on the phone did say the company's name (but I didn’t catch it properly). He made small talk and tried to chat about an all inclusive holiday I supposedly had in the last 4 years. Which was odd, cos I haven’t been on one for ages. Seems like he was just guessing.

They even had info about when and who i talked to in customer service! Plus, gave me a number to call so i could confirm who they were.

Definitely not a sketchy firm! They mentioned they were calling for eon (market research companies usually represent several clients). I was asked a few simple questions about my experience and then given a number for the Market Research Society. When I rang them, they confirmed that DJS Research is a legit company working with eon.

Someone rang pretending to be from Dow Jones, trying to get us interested in investing in fancy wines. They only wanted to speak to my husband and wouldn’t say a word to me. This young lad on the line mentioned that it would last about 4 to 6 minutes, which it did indeed. I forgot to probe how he managed to get hold of my mobile number, but he did inquire about my residence, my age, and whether I was working full-time, part-time, or retired. Then, he fired off a series of questions about the local weather forecasts, asking me about the colour codes I’d observed and to rate them from 1 to 5, with 1 being top-notch. I answered all his queries without reservation. He mentioned that the research was connected to something called MBN, but I didn’t quite catch it clearly. He offered me a verification number for checking purposes, but I declined it. My wife mentioned it sounded rather suspicious, and I can’t help but worry that they might have harvested some information from my phone during our chat.

They rang me on 30th Jan 2016 at 12:36pm, again at 2:00pm, 2:47pm and once more at 4:06pm. I didn’t answer, just let it go to voicemail. Each call only lasted about 2 seconds.
