This number has popped up on my phone quite a few times. I use Truecaller - yeah, it costs a bit, but honestly it’s a brilliant way to take control of your calls. Just add the number to your block list, and you won’t have to deal with it bothering you anymore. Just so you know, I’m not affiliated with Truecaller at all, but over the past year or so, it’s blocked more than 70% of the annoying calls I used to get, especially those annoying scam ones. If something dodgy rings through, one quick tap on my phone sorts it out instantly. I’d definitely suggest giving it a go.

This call was marked as spam and got dumped right into my junk voicemail by BT, so they seem to be filtering it for me. There was a voicemail saying the caller would ring again the next day, but they never did. Don’t recognise the number, but I’m pretty sure it’s someone dodgy.

This number is the exact same one that rang me a couple days ago from an 0190 code. Definitely a scam in my book. They left a voicemail saying they’d ring back later - well, good luck with that, we never pick up calls from numbers that aren’t already saved in our home phone.

Some bloke called Christopher about household appliances, saying I could get a 35% discount since it wasn’t claimed yet. He mentioned insurance from the manufacturers but couldn’t say which ones. He already had my name and address, which was odd. Since we only deal with commercial equipment, I told him it sounded like a scam. Even then, he kept asking to confirm my address.

I got a call from 01642 848016 claiming they were from the company that handles my home appliance service plan. They told me I was owed a refund since I hadn’t claimed anything yet and mentioned adding something extra to my policy. They then asked for my bank info, which I didn’t give because I pay through direct debit. When I wouldn’t share the details, the caller started getting pushy, so I just ended the call.

I received a call from this number not long ago. At first, there was a rather eerie silence, but eventually a man spoke up. His voice was quite off-putting, and I could hear some chatter in the background. He inquired about someone I’d never heard of, so I informed him that no one by that name was here. Clearly, it was a scam! It makes you wonder why these people can't find decent employment instead of resorting to this nonsense!

They keep calling about some domestic appliances cover, even though I don’t have any. Most of the time they tell me the warranty expired. They ring me like 6 to 8 times every week from loads of different numbers. I just end up hanging up on them everytime.

Absolutely. Adam was exceedingly loud and boisterous. He seemed to know my name and claimed that my insurance was about to expire. He told me I hadn't made any claims over the last year, which is simply not true since I’ve had issues with my fridge freezer. He went on about how my cooker, fridge freezer, and washing machine were all included in my policy - which they definitely aren't. When I requested my policy number, he asked if I had a pen and then rambled off a lengthy string of random characters that bore no resemblance to anything I'd ever received from them. At that point, I decided it was best to cut the conversation short. Frustrating, to say the least!

As soon as I grabbed the receiver, a pre-recorded message began blaring away. They claimed to be reaching out concerning insurance for home appliances, which I neither possess nor am interested in. They've mentioned they'll ring back tomorrow, but I've already blocked the number.

Got a call from 01642848016 about some kitchen appliance insurance. The guy kept insisting I had a policy with them, which I definitely don’t. What really threw me off was that he already knew my name and where I live - kind of creepy if you ask me. I told him I wasn’t interested at all, and he said he’d check things out and ring me back. Feels like a total scam to me.

This particular number reached out to my elderly mother, attempting to sell her insurance for household appliances. Fortunately, she managed to hang up before they could manipulate her in any way. I think I've successfully blocked the number for her, but I can't shake the worry that they might try to contact her again from a different line.

I keep getting calls from those dodgy home appliance scammers, it’s been happening for more than a year now. Seriously, when will the officials step in and put an end to this nonsense? They should lock those crooks up and give them phones that only receive calls, so they get a taste of the hassle they give to everyone else.

The other day, my wife picked up a call from some outfit claiming to be Domestic and General. They said we hadn’t filed a claim in over a year, which set alarm bells ringing. She promptly told them it sounded like a scam, even though they mentioned both our names were on the policy. However, I’m quite certain that any correspondence we receive is solely in my name. She insisted they call back when I was around, and ended the call. It’s getting ridiculous; we keep getting bombarded by these dodgy calls, each time from a different number. The latest one came through on the 30th of June, 2022.

On Tuesday 28th June, this number rang my landline. I’ve got one of those call blocker phones where if the number isn’t saved in your contacts, they have to say who they are before you pick up. Honestly, it’s so annoying because most of the time you don’t even realise you’ve missed a call until you go to use the phone later.

Got a call about renewing some home appliance insurance, which I never even signed up for since my kitchen is new and everything's still covered by the manufacturer's warranty. I keep getting bombarded with phone calls related to home appliance insurance. It’s become rather tiresome, to be honest. I've had a word with them-seems like it's the same lot each time-and told them quite clearly that I'm not interested in their calls. Yet the woman on the line was so adamant, insisting she had to speak to me. Absolutely not! Just leave me alone, for goodness' sake. The audacity!

My elderly mum got a call about some supposed policy on her new white goods - she’d just bought three appliances last week, so I thought it might be for real. But she was getting upset, so I grabbed the phone off her. The man on the other end was really pushy and sounded like he was yelling, with background noise like a call centre. He ended up getting quite rude and started arguing with me. I told him to never call again and just ended the call. Both of us felt pretty shaken by the whole thing.

I received a rather irritating cold call claiming to be from an insurance firm for 'Domestic Appliances', asserting that my premiums would be lowered as I hadn’t summoned any engineers in the past year. The trouble is, my actual coverage is with 'Domestic & General', which admittedly sounds quite similar and certainly contributed to the mix-up. As I attempted to clarify my loyalty to my current provider, they insisted that both companies collaborated to offer incentives to customers who hadn’t required assistance over the last twelve months. I made it absolutely clear that my allegiance lies firmly with 'Domestic & General'.<b> Nigel Hillman</b>

My father-in-law got a call from this number, and there was a woman with a foreign accent trying to get him to set up a direct debit for appliance insurance. I dont often pick up calls from numbers not local to me, so I like to look them up here first. This one left a voicemail saying they’d ring back the following day. Normally, legit callers mention your name and give more details or a number to call back on. When I do answer such calls, I like to stall and keep them talking while i’m pretending to get some 'documents'. Most times, they just get bored and hang up.

Just scroll down two comments from here and you’ll find a clear guide on how to tackle these scam calls and texts. If loads of folks across the UK who get hit by these every day actually did what’s suggested, I reckon the police and government would really step up to shut these crooks down. Don’t just expect someone else to handle it. Honestly, it doesn’t take much time at all. I’ve bookmarked the ‘Action Fraud’ website and even emailed my MP, got a pretty ‘interesting’ reply too. But it’s no use if I’m the only one trying.

My mum got a call from someone saying they were from L&G, but the way they spoke was really awful and quite rude. They tried to check some ‘policy’ with my dad’s name, even though he’s been gone for nine years now. It was a really upsetting and unwanted call that felt way too invasive. Just a heads up to everyone, watch out for these kind of calls!

Got a ring from a lady saying I might be able to claim a discount because I supposedly hadn’t used my Domestic Appliance Insurance. She mentioned I’ve been shelling out £29 a month but couldn’t name any specific appliances or models covered. She gave a policy number, something like SB158975. The thing is, I’ve never actually signed up for any insurance on my appliances - paying that amount for years would be way more than just swapping out a broken item. They were fishing for my bank or card info. Definitely a scam.

I got called two times by the same number, but after the first line the recorded message just stopped. Our phone has a filter that blocks messages from robocalls, so nothing got through. It’s probably another annoying scam trying to steal your info, so best to just ignore and don’t answer. Don’t let them catch you out!

Got a call from someone with a typical asian accent, but they used the wrong name when talking to me. I told them this number is flagged as a scam and told them to stop bothering me. They rang back immediately, so I just blocked them.

They keep ringing me up, but when I answer, there's never anyone on the other end. Quite baffling, really!

Received a call from 01642 848016 saying something about home appliance insurance. They keep switching up their phone numbers. Definitely feels like a scam to me.

This number kept calling me non stop. I reckon its a scammer trying to push fake appliance cover or something like that. I didn’t bother with them, just heard what they had to say then ended the call quick. Just for a laugh, I phoned them back and they hung up after only a couple of rings, which showed they aint legit for sure.

The call came through to my landline, but it took a bit of time before someone picked up. When they did, I could hear a guy speaking with an Indian accent, and the background noise sounded just like a busy call centre. I didn’t say anything, and after checking out what others have said, it’s clear this is probably a scam.

Got a voicemail from a lady saying something like, "Sorry I missed you. Just wanted a quick chat about your appliance insurance. I'll try again tomorrow. Cheers." Sounded exactly like a message I got from the number 029-2139 0021, so I'm guessing it’s the same dodgy company. Definitely no legit call - just a total scam.

This number rang me earlier but I didn't pick up, then later got a voicemail. Lucky I looked it up here cos turns out it's a dodgy scam call. Usually scammers dont even bother leaving a message. Also I checked out D&G's proper helpline and theirs is definitely an 0333 code, so not the same as this.

Got a call from someone claiming to be with Sky Protect, asking for my credit card info even though my payments go straight from my bank as a direct debit. Seemed a bit off to me.

Bunch of fraudsters! They had the audacity to ring me up, insisting that my insurance for kitchen appliances was up for renewal. The truth is, I've never even taken out such insurance! I gave them a piece of my mind and told them where to shove their so-called insurance plans. Do yourself a favour and steer clear of these tricksters. It’s undeniably a scam!

These people said I hadn’t claimed on my home appliance insurance, and because of that, they could give me a cheaper deal. They kept telling me I’m paying a £20 monthly Direct Debit for cover on 3 kitchen appliances, which isn’t true at all. I’ve never had any domestic appliance insurance, nor would I want to. Watch out - this sounds like a total scam to me.

A bloke with an Indian accent called and told me my kitchen electricals insurance needed renewing. I told him I didn’t have any such cover. He insisted that I did and claimed he had the paperwork all set to send. When I agreed to see the documents, he suddenly said he needed some details from me first. I told him there’s no way I’m giving info over the phone to set up some dodgy insurance scam.

I gave them a ring but ended up blocking the number straight away.

On 24/06, there were three posts made on this thread, going back about one and a half pages, that explained in detail how to deal with these scam calls. If people don’t take any action, then nothing’s gonna change. The tech to block them already exists, but what’s missing is the political and economic drive to tackle this, which sadly comes down to not enough of us making a fuss about it.

Just got a call from some bloke named Harry claiming I could get a discount on my "Home Insurance" because apparently we haven't had any repairs on our appliances last year. Funny thing is, we don’t even have any insurance at all! When I asked which appliances he was on about, he rattled off washing machine, cooker and fridge freezer. Problem is, we’ve never had a fridge freezer in the house! Told him that and told him to buzz off. He was just wasting my time, so I decided to do the same to him. Blocked the number right away.

Somebody rang saying they were from Domestic and General and trying to offer me some kind of discount. They mentioned I was apparently paying £19 a month, but when I asked them when the payments started, they couldn’t tell me. I don’t even have Domestic and General, I’m insured with another company. Told them to cancel whatever cover they thought I had because I don’t want it. Also made sure not to give them any of my personal info.

I got a call from a bloke with a European accent who wouldn't say who he was. He said it was about an insurance policy. Strange thing is, he used a name I made up about 15 years ago to dodge dodgy callers like him. When I asked for his info so I could report the call, he told me I was being impolite and that folks here are rude for doubting him. He even said I was accusing him of a scam. I kept asking how he got my number, and he just said maybe it was someone else’s before me. Eventually, I kept pressing for his details and he just hung up.

Got a call about insurance for household appliances, saying there’s a discount if you haven’t claimed before. They had my mum and dad’s first names and their postcode, and kept saying there’s already a policy in place and paperwork’s been sent to them. When I told them no such policy existed, they got all pushy and annoyed. They said they were calling from Brighton when I asked where they were based. Definitely watch out for this one.

I receive a call from this number each week, and they always leave a message concerning a review of my household appliances. It's the exact same script every time, and the voice sounds very artificial, as though it's been generated by a machine. I've never picked up, so I'm not sure if the robotic "OMAIZE" voice would transition into a real-life salesperson. Honestly, it’s no bother for me - it’s their phone charges piling up when my answering machine kicks in. Perhaps it would be amusing to answer, feign needing to check something at the door, and then just leave them hanging on the line, racking up their costs!

Got a missed call earlier, and they left a voicemail about some appliance insurance I supposedly have - which I definitely don’t! They keep ringing me every few days, even though I’ve told them I’m not interested and to stop calling. I think I’ll have to ring them back to tell them properly this time. Such a pain!

They called saying they insured home appliances and offered to cover our microwave too. We don’t have any such insurance though. I’m almost certain it was a scam. Feels like something that could really trick older or vulnerable folks.

I never even had a proper chat with them, just the way they sounded raised alarm bells for me. Got caught out by a scam years back, so there’s no way I’m letting that happen again.

I recently received a telephone call from this number, with the caller stating they were reaching out regarding my home appliances. To say I was frustrated would be an understatement, as I was in the middle of trying to contact the hospital for updates on my husband. When this unfamiliar number appeared, I answered it in the hope that it might be the hospital on the line. It's a shame that these individuals can't find more meaningful ways to spend their time.
