Selling bogus insurance is proper illegal. Claiming to be selling insurance just to get into your bank details is just as serious a crime. Safeguard Insurance is a broker that deals with motorhome policies, not connected to this number. Any calls from this number ought to be reported straight away to the police or NFIB at Action Fraud.

Hard to make out what they were saying, their English wasn’t great. Sounds like some Indian guy trying to talk about insurance for my late husband (he died back in 2008) and me needing a review. Got a call from a guy with an Indian accent who said his name was John. He claimed I had a critical illness insurance and offered cheaper rates. Problem is, I don’t have any such policy, so I have no clue how he knows about it or even got my number. The only place I’ve given my mobile is the DWP job centre website, no one else should have it. Plus, there's no proper mobile phone directory in the UK like the old landline ones from BT or Virgin. Definitely feels like a scam to me.

The number showed up as being from Neath, Wales. It was a lady speaking with an Indian accent, and you could hear the racket of a busy call centre in the background. She tried to get me to give her my full name but I just put her on hold till she gave up and hung up. I keep getting calls from these people telling me I've had a car crash and trying to sell me insurance for the future or something. But whenever I ask when this accident supposedly happened (which never did, btw), they just hang up on me. I've blocked loads of numbers but they always ring back using new ones. Proper nuisance!

So today I missed a call from a number I didn’t recognise and didn’t pick up. As per usual, I checked this site to see if it was a scam or something dodgy. Interestingly, it was from an area code I’m not used to - normally it’s those 0161 or 0151 numbers that pop up for scams. This one was different!

They claim to be from insurance comparison but honestly, I reckon they’re just trying to gather live numbers to pass along to other con artists. Feels like a bit of a scam to me.

Someone rang me up saying they were looking into Life Insurance. I mentioned I’m a Financial Adviser and handle my own plans, which seemed to unsettle them. They quickly said they’re a FA as well and accused me of being impolite. Once I told them I hold a CeFA (Certificate in Financial Advice), they cut the call pretty sharpish, clearly not wanting to keep talking once their bluff was called.
