I got several calls from this number in a single day and finally decided to answer. The person sounded like he was from some kind of lifestyle survey, asking to confirm my name, address at 1 Royal Ride, and postcode PO18OX. He had an Asian accent. After I confirmed, he moved on to questions about whether I rent or own my home. I told him he’d already asked his three questions, but he chuckled and kept going anyway. Then he ramped up the pace, throwing out questions about life insurance, who supplies my electricity, the brand and age of my washing machine, and even tried to get me to donate to a couple of charities I’d never heard of. Next came pitches for phone contracts and other random offers, clearly trying to sell me something or sign me up. Whenever I said no, he kept repeating the same line, like it was straight from a script: “Don’t worry. We won’t take anything now. Think about it and I’ll have them call you.” After this, I started getting calls from other companies, which I’m pretty sure shared my number around. One was a Will and estate service from Gillingham (I’ve tried ringing them to check if it’s genuine). Then I had someone claiming to be from Great Ormond Street hospital calling me for four straight days - that charity wasn’t even mentioned earlier. And just yesterday, someone from Three rang offering deals on SIM-only plans, phones, and broadband for non-Three customers. Warning: some of these callers got quite rude, and it seems like they might already have your real details, so be cautious.
