My daughter received quite a troubling spam call the other day. Thankfully, she didn’t pick it up, but afterwards, a continuous humming noise started blaring on her voicemail. It went on for a whole ten minutes! She was convinced that they intended to monopolise the line indefinitely. The number was 01633 906768.

I’m not sure who it was on the other end of the line. They were pushing me to divulge details about the type of loft insulation I’ve got. I flat out told her I don’t entertain calls like that. Have since added the number to my blocked list.

That caller with the posh British accent is nothing more than a scripted machine. It’s the same old crew from India orchestrating these nonsense calls. If you’re thinking along the lines that I am, feel free to hurl as much verbal abuse at them as your heart desires – completely despicable and probably against the rules – but hey, there’s little chance of any repercussions!

I couldn’t help but cut in at that moment, informing her that I recognised the number and it was definitely a scam. She hung up quite abruptly. It's alarming, especially for those who might easily fall for such tricks.
