Got a call like that too, some bloke saying he was from the council, an energy efficiency officer or something. Knew straight away it was dodgy since the council he mentioned ain’t the one for my area, my place falls under a different council altogether. Definitely a scam.

Got a call from someone called Jordan Lee about energy saving stuff. He actually knew my house name and said he was an energy officer for Bletchley. Claimed I’d had insulation done in the last two decades. When I wouldn’t confirm, he accused me of trying to annoy him, got really nasty and then just slammed the phone down.

On Friday at 1630, I received a phone call. Instead of answering, I chose to just listen. Although there was no voice on the other end, I could hear background noise indicating that it was a Call Centre with multiple people talking animatedly. I decided to end the call and proceeded to Google several search number links. It turns out that this was a sales line attempting to sell various products such as insurance, loft insulation, and funeral plans. To avoid any further calls, I promptly blocked the number.

Got a call today around 11am from 01632960141. They knew my name and postcode, and told me my current fibreglass insulation was useless. They claimed it wasn’t needed because we’d done something else to the roof. When I said I didn’t want to talk about personal stuff, he just hung up right away without saying anything else. Just a random cold call. Didn’t really feel bothered or worried about it.

Figured out they were trying to pitch expanded foam insulation. Stayed polite and asked if they meant that "spray foam stuff." He laughed and asked why he'd be selling whipped cream. When I said I was pretty sure he knew I meant loft insulation foam, he cheekily replied he could offer me a blow job instead.

Some bloke called Ellis Stone rang me up saying he was an efficiency advisor for High Wycombe. It sounded proper official at first, but when he started going on about fibre glass I clocked it was just a sales call. I humoured him, he was quite polite and quite friendly but kept pushing. After me telling him no about six times, he finally stopped and wished me a merry Christmas.

Got a caller with a native English accent claiming to be an energy efficiency officer for my area. He knew my name, which makes me think it’s linked to some recent energy switching website searches I did. I kept asking for the company name and their contact number, but he just ignored me and talked over me with a clear rehearsed script. If this is connected to those energy switch sites, it’s really disappointing, especially since I’m registered with TPS and have opted out of sharing info with third parties. ICO, please put a stop to these annoying calls preying on vulnerable folks.

I received a call today regarding an alleged issue with my insulation. However, when I declined to verify if I was the homeowner, they abruptly ended the call. It seems likely that their intention was to sell us something to fix the problem. If they contact us again, I plan on making a formal complaint to the TPS. If this was truly a safety concern, I believe they would have been better prepared and shown more persistence. Additionally, we would have received written notification rather than a cold call.

Had a woman calling herself 'Abigail' with what sounded like a proper English accent, saying she was from the local energy efficiency office. She actually knew my name and address right off. When I questioned why the number showed up as international, she said it's to cut costs or something. I told her I avoid international calls, and I’m on the TPS list anyway, so don’t bother ringing back again.

I received a call from a firm saying they're known as Options, hailing from Luton. The person on the line said they were with the efficiency advice team and insisted they had my information pulled from something they called "The National Database." Turns out, it was nothing more than a blatant sales pitch, and to make matters worse, they rang my number which is registered with the Telephone Preference Service. Apparently, I should've reminded them of that!

The caller already had my name and address (Barnet). They mentioned something about fibre glass loft insulation degrading over time. When I asked what they were selling, they didn’t really answer - just wanted to check if my home could take this new foam insulation. They were quite insistent. Mainly trying to learn about the property and arrange for someone to come and have a look. The person was very polite and quite convincing. I just made up a reason and hung up.

Today, I received a call from a man who was well-informed about my address and the fact that my loft had been recently insulated. He expressed concern about the quick deterioration of fiberglass and offered a solution with their product. Royer rang me at 5pm on Friday 13th October - not exactly a lucky day for her. She said she’s a local efficiency adviser for the EN6 area and wanted to chat about loft insulation. After a bit, I realised she wasn’t from any official government energy dept, just some independent firm offering “energy advice.” When I mentioned my number’s on the TPS, she said sorry and claimed they have a monitoring system but sometimes calls get through by mistake.
