7 yearsthis morning a man rang my 89 year old mum asking about her amazon account, she said she’s never had one which is the truth. I don’t get why they’ve gotta call so early. then he just hung up on her. total scam, absolute scum!!Amazon7 yearsAt about 9:32 in the morn, I got a call from someone who said I signed up for Amazon Prime and owed £99. I told them I never did that, and then they claimed my account was hacked. They asked me to get my laptop so they could show me how to cancel it. The guy was Asian, spoke in really broken English, and the line kept dropping. Then I just got cut off. This happened up here in Northern Ireland.AmazonAmazon PrimeNorthern Ireland7 yearsgot a silent call ringing at 8am, really annoying!7 yearssomebody called saying they were from amazon prime, mentioning an account i supposedly opened on 10/12/19. i told them it was a load of rubbish and that i’d probably been hacked, then asked about their wifi and internet situation just to mess with them. when i joked about whether they even felt guilty pulling this kind of scam, they got a bit annoyed and insisted it wasn’t a scam. i told them i'd ring up amazon myself and that i wasn't born yesterday, and told them it was pretty shameful. then they just hung up on me.Amazon PrimeAmazon7 yearsGot a call from someone claiming to be from Amazon. The line was pretty bad and the person had a weird foreign accent. They knew my name and told me it was about my Amazon Prime subscription costing £99.99 (which I'm pretty sure isn't right) and asked if I wanted to renew. I told them I handle that stuff online, then ended the call. I've since cancelled my Amazon account because I keep wondering how they even got my name in the first place!Amazon7 yearsGot a call from a lady with an Asian accent claiming to be from Amazon Prime saying my membership is now sorted. I didn’t sign up for anything and was told my info must’ve been hacked and they’d charge my card. I asked her for the account number but she couldn’t give it, maybe she wanted to get payments or something. I ended the call pretty quickly.Amazon7 yearsGot a call from someone talking in this weird American accent claiming to be from Amazon Prime, saying she needed to talk about my partner’s account - which we don’t even have! Can’t believe this is the third scam call I’ve had and it’s only Tuesday.Amazon Prime7 yearsThis number 0162542108 has been blowing my phone up loads of times recently. Every time I pick up and say ‘hello’, there’s just silence, then they hang up straight away. It’s been happening all year and honestly, I’m getting really fed up with it.7 yearsI rang this number back out of curiosity. Unsurprisingly, it turned out the number isn’t active anymore. Just a tip: I’ve got this really old Nokia, probably worth nowt, with a pay-as-you-go SIM inside, which I call my “scrappy phone”. Whenever I get suspicious calls, I use it to ring back. Most times, I get the message “the number you’ve dialled isn’t in service,” which says it all, really. Usually, it’s just switched off and left in a drawer anyway.7 yearsAnswerd the phone with a "hello" but got silence, so I ended the call.7 yearssome guy called paul folly claiming to be from bt, spoke with a thick asian accent. he kept going on about issues with our internet but i told him it’s not even on and isn’t in use, so no way there’s a problem. he said it’s been acting up for three days, which sounds like nonsense to me. i ended the call quickly - those two minutes were a total waste.Paul FollyBT7 yearsCheers for the info. I just had a ring from that number and decided to not pick up.7 yearsgot a call from someone who said they were from bt tech support, telling me there was an issue with our internet. i asked for bt’s main phone number to confirm if he was genuine, and right after that he ended the call quite nicely. we actually have our own team watching over our internet and everything seems perfectly fine on our end.BT7 yearsYep totally with you on this scam call thing!!! I’m with BT and use this thing called call protect that shunts dodgy numbers straight to a junk folder. Also, I’m on the Telephone Preference Service (TPS) which is free and lets you opt out of most sales or marketing calls. It’s like an official list where you can say you don’t wanna get these annoying calls. Most of the time it works great, but if one sneaks through, I just chuck it into call protect and that’s that.BTTelephone Preference ServiceTPSCall7 yearsGot a call at about 9.50 this morning from an Asian guy claiming it was about my Amazon account. I couldn’t quite catch what he was saying properly, but he kept asking me to give him my phone number for some reason. I told him to just send me an email if he was really from Amazon. Later, I checked all my emails and didn’t find anything from them.Amazon7 yearsJust a heads up, if someone rings you saying they’re from an internet or tech firm and claims there’s something wrong with your router - maybe saying it's sending error alerts or it’s infected with a virus - be careful. They might say they can sort it out, but ask you to pay with a gift card. Don’t fall for it! Paying won’t necessarily get your data back, and you shouldn’t give them control of your computer. Best to keep it straightforward and not hand over any access.7 yearsGot a recorded call about BT internet earlier today, sounded fishy to me. Definitely felt like a scam!BTSubmit Your Own Report (01625 42108)
