If you get one of those silent or dropped calls, make sure you tell OFCOM about it. These spammers won't bother with what’s said in forums, but they do take notice when people report them to OFCOM. It only takes a couple of mins max on their website. Don’t count on your phone provider to help much, they often just cash in on selling you caller ID or other call-blocking services instead.

I’ve started to say ‘hold on a sec please’ when they ring, then I just leave the phone and walk away. When I come back, the call’s always gone. Nothing stops them, even when I ask them to take me off their list they just hang up, same when I mention I’m on the TPS register. Complaints about the volume of calls make them cut off as well. And if I try to talk, they rudely tell me not to interrupt! I really wish I could figure out which company it is. If you've signed up with the TPS, make sure you actually report those live callers to the ICO. Posting about it here won’t bother scammers much, but the ICO definitely takes notice, and filing a report takes under five mins. Also, if you haven’t signed up to the TPS yet, what are you even doing? Your phone provider won’t help much either since they earn money from selling caller ID services and blocking calls.
