just to add, i looked up that 0870 number they gave me and it doesn’t match any legit bt billing contact, so it definitely wasn’t a mix up with the number.

Got a call from a man with an asian accent saying he was from BT. He left me a voicemail calling me Mrs Jones and mentioned my business bill was unpaid. He gave an 0870 number to ring back - trust me, don’t bother, it’s a con! I’m not Mrs Jones, I don’t run a business, and I’m definitely not with BT. These dodgy phone numbers being sold around need to be banned, it’s ridiculous.

Got a call on my home phone but it just went straight to voicemail and then cut off. No message left or anything. Sounds like one of those cold calls to me.

I got a call from someone who sounded quite knowledgeable, going on about solar panels, inverters and the importance of getting them inspected. He also mentioned feed-in tariffs and some grants available. Thing is, we don't actually have any solar panels or generate our own electricity, so I was a bit puzzled where he got those details from, since we've never installed any. Quite strange really!

Got a call from some guy who wanted to speak to the BT account holder, and weirdly he knew my name. I told him it wasn’t a BT account and he was pretty polite about it, said he’d update their info. Felt a bit fishy though, could be some kind of scam!

Got a call from someone asking to chat with the person who's got the BT account. It was a bit unclear what the deal was because he claimed it wasn’t a cold call but then asked if I’d be interested in cutting my BT bills in half?? The guy was quite polite but also a bit pushy when I said I wasn’t looking to switch and was quite happy with BT as it is. He kept probing why I wouldn’t switch and assured me the service would stay exactly the same??? Honestly, if I say no, I really mean no! Just respect that and move on!

got a call asking for the account owner linked to the bt number, but this number isn't with bt at all. I told them, and they were quite nice about it and said they’d fix their info. quite polite really.

this guy says he’s with some firm that works with openreach and can lower bt phone bills or something. been ringing non stop, like every day for the past fortnight, trying to get me to switch over. think i’ll just block the number now.

He was really polite, asking if he could speak to the person who holds the BT account. When I told him we didn’t have one, I apologised and suggested it might’ve been some kind of mix-up on his side.
