I received a rather unwelcome phone call from someone with a distinct foreign accent, purporting to discuss the upkeep of our solar panels. It had the unmistakable vibe of a call centre operation. The caller was a woman who identified herself as being from ICENI.

Some lady from Iceni - I reckon it’s Iceni Solutions Ltd, who do loft foam insulation removal - gave me a ring saying my solar panels were due for their yearly check-up. When I said no thanks and mentioned they ought to have looked at the TPS list first, she insisted if she’d known I was on it she wouldn’t have called. I told her it’s her company’s responsibility to actually verify that beforehand! I’m planning to report it to the TPS, hoping they’ll track them down, though it could just be a scam using spoofed numbers anyway.

Got a call from a lady from Iceni about checking our solar panels since the original company that installed them and was meant to maintain them has shut down. Got a call from someone claiming to be with ICICI, said they were working on behalf of companies that went bust and dealt with solar panel maintenance. They told me I need to get my panels serviced every year or so. Apparently, they can spot houses with solar panels just by checking Google Earth. When I asked which company had gone into liquidation, they couldn’t give me a straight answer. Definitely felt like a spam call.
