Got a call from a 0161 number earlier and had a quick check on here - turns out it was a scam, just a cold call. If you get calls from any area codes not from your local area, best to block straight away, these calls are driving me mad. I reckon there are shady firms who just share email and mobile details with other dodgy callers. Another one for my block list. This is the third time I've had a call from "Pension Safe" (safe my arse). The number pops up as Manchester but the last four digits are different each time. Do they have loads of numbers like that woman with the "Accident claim" scam? I told her I’m only 55, not 65, and I’m not planning to retire any time soon. She informed me that their purpose was to verify whether I had knowledge regarding the modifications made to the Government Pension Scheme last year. Im pretty sure this number is Advantis calling for British Gas. I’d already told them by email to stop ringing me. They even put my account on pause for two weeks but they keep ringing anyway. Since I don’t recognise any other people with that area code, I just ignore their calls as they never leave any voice messages. Got a call from an auto dialler. When I rang back, there was a recorded message in an American accent telling me to hold on, but then it just hung up after about 6 minutes. I’ve reported it to Ofcom and would suggest everyone else does too, since they apparently only take action when they get loads of complaints about the same number.
