He asked if he could speak to me, so I said what’s it about? He claimed I'd been accepted for a loan. I said that sounds brilliant, maybe send it to a charity in my name. Then he asked for my card info to confirm, so I just said no thanks. He said cheers and then swore at me before hanging up. Five minutes later he rings again, card still a no. Told him off good and proper, told him to just jump out of the office window, no commission for you this month!

I got a call from a bloke with a strong English accent who said his name was Warren. He claimed to be calling from some company with “road” in the name, but I couldn’t quite catch it - something like roadline or roadwalk, can’t remember exactly. He wanted to talk about a car accident I supposedly had. I quickly told him he had the wrong number, but he asked if I’d had a crash recently. I said no, and he then asked if I was the person by my first name, which I confirmed. After that, he just hung up. I’ve since unplugged the landline, so not sure if they tried again. It felt kinda dodgy, like he acted like he knew me or something. I’m worried it could be some sort of scam or a voice-activated recording. Just thought I’d share in case it helps anyone else.

On the evening of 5th October, I got a call about a car accident. I knew straight away it was dodgy, especially since a few months back someone had reversed into my car and my insurance company was handling it. I said nothing, but then another bloke joined the line. Both chaps had accents and just talked over me for about 20 seconds, so I hung up. He called straight back and tried to pressure me, again speaking over me while I firmly told him to stop trying to scam me. I hung up again after about 10 seconds and switched my phone off for the night. This morning I saw they’d called once more, hanging up after 12 seconds during the night. If they get in touch again, I’m definitely reporting them to the police because it feels like they’re after my personal info for some kind of identity theft.

I kept receiving calls so eventually picked up. They claimed I owed money because of a small car accident. I told them it was a scam and hung up. Then they rang again saying it wasn’t a scam and that they wouldn’t ask for personal info, so I pretended to go along with it. They started asking when and where the accident happened. I gave made-up answers and then they wanted to transfer me to some other team. That’s when I got fed up, laughed and told them to find a real job. Still getting the missed calls from them though!

On the line was an Asian bloke calling out my name, but he cut off before I could say a word. They keep ringing loads, then vanish for a bit, only to come back again later. If they're trying some nonsense about a "mysterious car crash," well, they’re mad because that means they know when and what happened, so I could easily take legal action. Proper mugging off. This is a dodgy scam that's been going about for years. They claim to deal with a road accident case that might've actually happened, but don't fall for it. They seem to get your number from the breakdown or recovery service. Then they ask for your bank details and personal info, saying they can help you claim compensation. The truth is, they don't get you anything, but now they've got your private details and bank info. That’s when identity fraud can kick in.

Someone said they were from Roadcare, contacted me about an accident I had but knew nothing about the details. Then they put me through to a very pushy manager. They kept ringing me up saying they had a cheque sorted for compensation from a no fault accident this year. I told them I already settled everything with the other insurer, but they just carried on saying they were handling it through the free legal cover my insurance included. It smelled like a scam to me, so I told them I’d be reporting them to the TPS, which I’m already signed up with.

Got a call with no one talking, just background noise like in a call centre. I hung up because if they ain't gonna say owt, no point. Then I went ahead and blocked the number.

I was in a car accident that was my fault and now they’re saying they’ll send me some sort of cheque, like I’m owed compensation or something... they couldn’t give me a proper website to check it out. They asked for my DOB and the car’s registration to set up a password or something dodgy like that. Feels like a total scam to me.

They kept calling me non stop for weeks. When I finally picked up, they told me they just got a report that I’d been in a car crash that same morning. I asked why they’d been pestering me so long if they only got the info then, and they just ended the call. Total scam. Blocked the number straight away.
