Watch out when you’re dealing with cold callers. Don’t ever hand over any personal info. If you’ve got a bit of time, hear them out and if it sounds worth considering, do your homework before ringing back. Proper insurance brokers are always registered and usually members of recognised groups like BIBA. It isn’t hard to verify them online, even checking their membership is straightforward. Also, keep in mind scammers can fake legitimate business numbers when they call, and phone providers don’t seem ready to stop this trick yet.

Got a call from some insurance company, the bloke said his name was Jack. He wanted to know when my business insurance was due for renewal. I told him the date, and he asked if it was alright to ring back about a month before to offer a comparison quote. I told him I'd think about it, but my best mate is a broker, so I’m pretty loyal to him. Jack was cool about it and said no worries. Then I asked to be removed from their list and he sorted it straight away. Sounded like a decent guy, might've been keen if not for my mate’s involvement in insurance.

Got my insurance renewed through brokers in Manchester, my premium shot up this time with no prior notice and no claims on my record. These guys managed to knock £280 off the price I was given. Pretty chuffed about that since we run a small cafe and as they say, better to keep the cash in my wallet than theirs. Was a bit doubtful about how quick it’d be, but it took about ten minutes, so I’m quite happy with that.

It is a legit company tho, and I get that the sales calls might get on your nerves but my admin didn’t say a word (we normally block pest calls). Just thought id drop a comment since ive been reading these after getting a missed call from them.
