When I picked up there was a bit of a delay before they spoke, which felt off right away. Then they claimed they were from O2 promoting some deals - that’s when I realised it was dodgy, seeing as O2 never runs offers like that!

Ended the call pretty quick, like 3 seconds tops.

Got a call from someone claiming to be with EE. They asked me what my current bill was. Told them if they really worked for EE, they’d already have that info. The person said they were in promotions and couldn’t see billing info. Suggested they ask the Billing Team if they needed those details. Then they just ended the call on me.

I got a ring from this number, but when I answered, there was nothing but a faint buzzing noise in the background before it suddenly cut off.

Total scam, best to just ignore and don’t answer.

Didn’t pick up, but right then I got a message from O2 saying a passcode had been asked for on my account. They warned nobody from O2 would ever ask for that info. Soon after, the code showed up and the phone rang. I usually don’t reply to calls from unknown numbers unless I’m expecting someone, and I’m no longer with O2 anyway, so I wasn’t fooled. Still, I appreciate O2 including that heads-up in their texts for folks who might be tricked.

Some bloke called Michael, sounded Indian, claimed he was ringing from Vodafone. He started by asking how I was. I replied "hot." He didn’t catch it first and was like "what?" so I said "hot" again. Then there was this awkward silence before he just hung up on me.

Like the people before me, this bloke claimed to be ringing from Curry’s about a phone deal. I cheekily asked if he had any clue about Latin, considering he was with Curry’s. Didn’t get a chuckle out of him, so I just ended the call.

Got a call from someone claiming to be from EE trying to sell me a discount. He asked about my current bill, so I made up some nonsense about having a Nokia 3210, which really threw him off - like, no iPhone or Samsung? The bloke called himself James, sounded like he was from India. I told him straight up I knew he was trying to scam me, and he lost his cool, started swearing like mad. Didn’t hold back, gave it all right back to him.

Got a call from someone claiming to be Vodafone, saying they could give me a 30% discount on my bill. Then he asked me how much I was actually paying. I said he ought to already know that info, and he just ended the call right away.

So this afternoon I get a call from someone claiming to be from Currys PC World. It was an Indian guy trying to sell me either a new iPhone or an Android phone. I asked him what those phones even were, coz honestly, I’m clueless. He kept going on about it, so I told him I’ve still got an ancient phone and don’t really understand any of this new stuff. Then he starts asking how I pay my phone bills, and I told him I use a pay-as-you-go. After that, he rambled about data and monthly charges. I asked him what data actually is and what I’m supposed to do with it. He just got stuck and ended up hanging up on me lol!
