I got a call from some bloke named John Jones who said he was from Esure and that they were going to send me a cheque for £4000. When I asked him how they worked out that amount, he just ended the call straight away. I rang him back, and he got really stroppy, saying if I was in front of him I wouldn’t be talking like that. Feeling like this isn’t right, I’m thinking about reporting this to the GMP! The number he called from was 0161 854 1219.

Got a ring from this number claiming to be the Accident Advice Centre. The only way they could’ve had my mobile was through someone involved with a crash last week, like my insurance or recovery firm, since they had all the accident details. When I asked where they grabbed my number, they mentioned ‘The Accident Portal,’ probably through my insurer. With GDPR in place, you’d think this kind of thing would be banned. To their credit, they noticed I was annoyed and promised not to bother me again.

At first I told him I wasn’t interested, then when he said he wasn’t selling anything, I thought maybe it was real and asked what it was about.
