I discovered an unauthorised charge of £366 on my talktalk mobile account. It turns out that this charge was for an 18-hour phone call to a number that we never dialed or had any knowledge of. After speaking with talktalk, they confirmed that it was indeed a scam and deducted the money from my account. My research online revealed that the company behind this charge, Help your Claim, is notorious for its questionable practices and has a bad reputation. They also operate using the phone number 0333 344 3440. This incident occurred in February 2017.

I was surprised to see that Virgin Mobile withdrew £200 from my bank account for a call to this specific number! However, I can assure you that I did not make this call. The call lasted from midnight until around 8am, which is approximately 8 hours, coinciding with the time when I was fast asleep in bed. It is important for everyone to keep an eye on their bank statements and review them regularly. Fortunately, Virgin Media conducted an investigation and refunded the money to me.

Got a call from this number with loads of background noise. The person on the line asked if I’d claimed my PPI refund, saying it could be around £2200. I told them I never had that insurance, but they insisted I must have, saying banks hid the charges. I explained that any such fee would have been in the paperwork and I definitely didn’t have PPI. Still, they kept pushing that I had it. I’ve blocked quite a few numbers from Manchester now - they all talk about PPI but just alter one digit and call again. Honestly, this needs to be cracked down on.

Got a call today, 12th Oct 2016, at 5:01pm from 01618509776 claiming I had a refund waiting (for what exactly, who knows?). I told the person there’s no refund coming my way from anywhere and asked them to stop calling me. They wouldn’t accept that and just kept on going. I had to cut in and repeat that they need to take me off their list. Eventually I hung up. Honestly, there really ought to be tough penalties for these companies that keep pestering and annoying people with pointless calls.
