Just like loads of other folks, I got one of those robo calls on a Saturday morning, saying HMRC's taking me to court or something mad like that! There’s six people living here, so how on earth do they know who picks up the phone? It’s proper shocking. I’m really glad I stumbled upon this thread. This could stress loads of people out big time. They even told me to press 1 to speak to "my case officer"! Ridiculous!

My mum got a call from some supposed HMRC people around 4.50 on a Saturday evening, which seemed odd straight away. They said she was being sued or something, but she was really puzzled, so we just ended the call. Mum’s number isn’t on any listings and she’s on the TPS too. I’ve gone ahead and reported that number to OFCOM.

What troubles me is the fact that just over a year ago, I an actual call from debt collectors regarding DVLA when we accidentally let our road tax lapse due to a change of address and missing the reminder. That call was genuine, and we faced the risk of further fines if we hadn’t acted. I could have easily mistaken this intimidating call for something similar and fallen into their trap. It's infuriating that these scams are still happening, and there should be serious consequences for the culprits. They are undoubtedly preying on the vulnerable and anxious, and it's high time something was done to put a stop to this madness.

Got a robo call saying HMRC's taking me to court. I just ended the call. Then I rang the 0161 850 6994 number back and some foreign woman with an odd accent picked up and claimed to be HMRC. I told her straight they weren't and that I'd contact the cops. After that, she just hung up. Total scam, and honestly, pretty rubbish at it too.
