I received a voice message on my voicemail claiming to be from HMRC, warning me of a impending legal action and urging me to press 2 to speak with my "case officer". It’s blatantly a pre-recorded scam - completely ridiculous and utterly untrustworthy. Definitely worth hanging up on!

Received a dubious call claiming to be from HMRC, threatening arrest by the police within half an hour unless I forked out £1900 without delay. The bloke on the other end became quite irate and aggressive when I began to probe him about it. Just to clarify, this is definitely a SCAM!

Received a rather alarming phone call from this number today at 10:10 in the morning, on the 3rd of September 2018. The caller claimed to be from HMRC, stating that they were initiating legal proceedings against us and instructed me to press 1 to be transferred.

Just got a call from this number to my 90 year old mum, telling her she’s got some lawsuit against her or something. It’s really awful how they target older people like that. Definitely a scam trying to frighten them into paying up. Make sure you let any older family members know about this!

Just got a phone call and it’s an obvious scam. There’s no way HMRC would ring you up with an automated message threatening legal action and telling you to press one to talk to the ‘case officer’. Just got a call earlier today from someone claiming to be from HMRC saying they were after me. I tried ringing back, but after a long wait, I got an answerphone with a bloke sounding American who said he couldn’t take the call right now but to leave my name and details and he’d get back to me. Didn’t come across as genuine at all. I was sure it was a scam since hardly anyone has my number, and you'd think they’d at least start with knowing your name in their scam.

Some bloke rang me up threatening to take legal action against my business. When I dialled back, this Indian guy picked up and started going on about getting me arrested if I didn’t play along. Told him to bugger off, and next thing he’s saying he’s gonna come round and find me. I couldn’t stop laughing as he got more and more pissed off. Honestly, don’t give these muppets any details about yourself.

Got a ring at 10:10 am on Saturday, 1st September 2018. I couldn’t quite catch all of the pre-recorded message, but it sounded like it might’ve been from a legal or debt recovery agency. They mentioned something along the lines of, "We're planning to pursue legal action against you." Then they prompted me to hit the number (1). I decided to hang up rather than engage further. Seems a bit fishy to me!

Got a automated voice saying they were from the tax office and apparently they’d tried to reach me before, now threatening legal action. They never said who it was aimed at. I cut the message off early, it sounded dodgy, so I just blocked the number. Definitely felt like a scam.
