I've had calls from this number twice today, spaced out by about three hours. The first call I answered, and some bloke with a pretty threatening tone claimed HMRC was looking into me. I sussed it was a scam straight away and hung up. When it rang again, I ignored it and got rid of the voicemail left behind. It's baffling how these scammers manage to use a UK area code, making it seem like the calls could be legit.

It’s frustrating that scam calls like this keep targeting folks who aren’t so lucky or aware. I get loads of emails claiming I’m due money and asking me to open dodgy attachments. Today I got two calls from the number 01618505897. My wife answered the first one, but she’s pretty sharp and just hung up straight away. When we returned home after being out, we found a voicemail from some automated female voice. Thinking it was probably a scam, I looked it up and came across Who Called Me through my search engine. Got a call from this number around 10.25 this morning, where they claimed to be a Case Officer and asked me to press 1 to talk to them. I hung up straight away but later decided to contact the HMRC tax helpline. They were really helpful and confirmed it was a scam. They advised me to report it to Action Fraud, which I have done. So yesterday I got a call from 0161 850 3534 and I immediately blocked it. Then today, guess what? They rang from 0161 850 5897! Had to block that one as well. I’m pretty sure they'll be back tomorrow with yet another number. They really don’t give up, do they!!

My dad, who has disabilities, got a call from this number claiming there was some legal action against him. They said they were from HMRC and asked for his National Insurance number. He wouldn’t share any details, and then they started shouting at him, telling him he’d soon be arrested and to wait for the cops. It’s terrible that scammers can target vulnerable folks right at home like that. Lucky my dad was sharp enough to see through it. The government really needs to do something about these scams!

Got this exact message on my voicemail too. Felt a bit dodgy so decided to Google the number before doing anything. Seems loads of others have had this so-called "lawsuit" warning. No clue where they got my digits from since I switched my phone contract not long ago. The number they used was 0161 8505897. Definitely creepy!

Got a call saying there was a lawsuit being taken out against me, claiming it was from HMRC. The bloke on the phone barely spoke English and called himself 'Steve, my case officer'. He tried to get my personal info. Don’t trust this number or answer anything if it rings you - it’s definitely dodgy scammers.

Got a call from a number overseas where the person said they were with HMRC and mentioned some case number linked to me. They actually knew my name and then began to ask all sorts of questions. Be careful, it sounds like one of those scams going around.

I got a call that was meant to be from HMRC, it was a robotic message saying something about legal action being taken against me but no specifics or names were mentioned. I just hung up straight away without hearing any further.

Got a call from this number around 3pm today, left a message on my answerphone saying they were from HMRC and that they were taking legal action against me. Then they just hung up! What a load of rubbish. It’s quite unsettling though, especially if someone actually fell for it. How on earth did they get my number when I’m ex-directory? Honestly, I wish these kinds of calls would stop. They’re seriously starting to annoy me!
