We received an identical message on our voicemail. It’s clearly a scam, and I wouldn’t be surprised if selecting option 1 leads to some sort of fee.

I've recently received a couple of calls-one on the 7th of December and another on the 14th. They claimed to be from HMRC, stating that they had initiated legal action against me and urged me to press 1 to connect with my case officer. It raised my eyebrows, to say the least. Naturally, I decided to do a bit of digging online, and to my relief, I discovered that it was indeed a scam, with plenty of others having reported similar encounters. What a weight off my shoulders!

I received a voicemail which mentioned something about a court order and instructed that if I wished to make contact, I should press 1 to connect with someone who handles cases.

Received a similar message when I picked up the phone. When I pressed 1, it prompted me to leave a voicemail. It was quite a chilling experience, to be honest. However, upon reflection, it’s clear that HMRC typically communicates via mail and didn’t specify anyone by name.

I had the very same call, and I must admit, it left me quite shaken as well!

I received a call from Ansafone, who played a recorded message claiming to be from "HMRC", stating they were initiating legal proceedings against me and urging me to press 1 to speak with my designated case officer. I must admit, it certainly sent a chill down my spine at first! However, after replaying the message a few times, it became abundantly clear that it wasn't legitimate. Firstly, HMRC would never notify anyone of such serious matters via a voicemail, and secondly, in the unlikely event it were true, they would have provided a contact number and a reference code. It seems like yet another despicable hoax making the rounds!

I've just experienced a similar situation and I'm currently in the process of informing the authorities.

I just received a worrying call meant for my elderly mother, who is 87. A very irate person on the line insisted they had been attempting to reach her. Then, bizarrely, they instructed her to press 1 to chat with a police officer!
