I didn’t pick up since I don’t usually take calls from unknown numbers! My phone shows the region the call’s from, though I’m not sure how accurate it is. If I don’t recognise the place or anyone from there, I just ignore it, simple as that. I never actually listen to it ringing; I just press the power button once to mute it while they keep ringing away. It’s actually quite amusing and helps keep my phone’s battery from draining too much!

SCAM ALERT - Got a robocall claiming to be from the Money Advice Helpline with a woman saying, "Hi, I'm Jess from Money Advice Helpline, how are you today?" The message kept repeating in different tones about 4 times before it just cut out if you didn’t say anything. Tried calling back and it was the exact same recording. Weirdly, the recording mentioned the name of the last person linked to that number, which makes me think their info must be floating around on dodgy data lists these scammers use. Seriously, don’t trust this one. Number’s been blocked from my phone now.

The number shows up as Manchester, but one call came from a mobile with a Colombian code. They're telling me I need to get a special taxi for my wheelchair to go buy these 'vouchers' to pay some £3,600 I supposedly owe, or else I’m off to jail. Honestly, the more I keep them hanging, the less they can bother others. Now, I just automatically get wary if someone calls with a foreign accent.

Got a call from a guy with an Indian accent saying he was from HMRC. He kept asking for my full name, address, email, and phone number - even though he already called me! He said there was an arrest warrant out for me because of fraud. When I asked for the name on the warrant, he said he couldn’t share it because of data protection rules. Got a robo call from a woman’s voice saying HMRC is going to take legal action against me, and to press 1 if I want more info. I just ended the call, checked the number with 1471, then looked it up and decided to share it here. Really unsettling stuff.

This number 01618504678 just called my mum who’s 90 years old and it really upset her, she ended up crying. They told her she was going to be sued for unpaid taxes or something. Luckily, she hung up before they could say much else. It’s definitely a scam, don’t trust it.

Just like others here, I’m fed up and think there should be a way to block these calls. It’s a proper scam. I got a call from 01618504678 telling me HMRC are taking legal action against me. Completely bogus. Feels like a criminal thing to be doing this to people.

I've just got that message about HMRC too, it's so frustrating how these scammers are still able to do this. Got a call from some HMRC scam this morning saying I might be prosecuted and to PRESS 1 if I want to sort it. Didn’t press anything, obviously. Honestly, someone needs to track these con artists down and give them a proper telling off so they don’t try this again. They’re just trying to frighten everyday people for no good reason. It really feels like these dodgy scammers have somehow got hold of real HMRC info to make their scam seem legit. Has HMRC said anything about being hacked lately?

Got a lady's voice telling me to press 1, just like others mentioned here. Then some bloke with an Asian accent started ranting that he'd send cops if I ended the call. I just laughed and said fine, the actual HMRC would send a letter if anything was wrong, and anyway, I don’t owe them a penny!

Got a call from someone saying they were from HMRC threatening legal action. I just hung up straight away. Then I used 1471 to get the number and looked it up online - so relieved I didn’t answer properly. Honestly, HMRC always sends a proper letter first and gives you a reference number to use when you call them back. This was definitely a scam.

Like others have said, I got a voicemail claiming HMRC needed to speak to me urgently. They told me to ring them straight away. Seems dodgy to me, especially if they end up asking for bank info or my National Insurance number. Wouldn't trust it.

Got a call from this number around 9 in the morning today. It was the exact same automated message others have mentioned here. Just to say, I’m signed up with the TPS. This really needs to be put an end to - it’s quite alarming if someone actually believes it’s legit. HMRC should really warn people about this!

Got a call from this number early Monday morning around 9am. The bloke said he was from HMRC and started asking for personal details. Since HMRC rarely rings me, I asked him to prove who he was. Suddenly, with a strong Indian accent, he started threatening me with police action, calling me a criminal. I’ve always worked hard and try to help others where I can, so his aggressive attitude really upset me. I remind myself it’s his issue, not mine. Reading other comments on this site has been a real comfort.

My elderly mum got a call just after 9 this morning, and they scared her with all this talk about legal stuff from HMRC. It's so unfair! These scams need to end, especially since they prey on vulnerable folks who don't have the means to just brush it off. Got a call from this number around 9:45 am today, with a recorded message claiming to be from HMRC saying I’m facing legal action. This is the third time I’ve had calls like this in the past year. It’s obviously a scam and honestly, these scam artists should be locked up for ages. I just don’t get why the police or whoever can’t do more to catch them - surely they can trace where these calls come from? It’s so frustrating.

I just rang my mum who's quite old and got a voicemail from HMRC saying something about legal action if she doesn’t pay up. It really scared her and now she’s quite shaken.
