I received a call from someone claiming to represent a certain company, saying that my identity had been compromised. However, her command of the English language was rather poor, which made it quite tricky to follow what she was trying to convey.

A chap claiming to be from the National Crime Agency rang me up, sounding rather foreign. He introduced himself as Jeremy Cooper and did provide the right number for the NCA, though the caller ID displayed something else entirely. He rambled on about Windows and Microsoft, asserting that my computer was somehow involved in dodgy dealings. When I mentioned that my device wasn’t running Windows at all, he abruptly ended the call. I reached out to the NCA, and they verified that the call was indeed a scam.
