Got a call from 01618208313 claiming to be Amazon, saying a phone was bought with my account. They said they’d emailed me and wanted me to look at it while they waited on the phone. I told them it sounded like a scam but they insisted it wasn’t. I said I’d look over my emails later and if necessary, contact Amazon myself. Then I just ended the call. Of course, no email from Amazon turned up.

Got a call from 01618208313 claiming to be Amazon, telling me someone had bought a phone using my account. They said they sent me an email and wanted me to look at it right away while I was still on the phone. I told them it sounded like a scam but they insisted it wasn’t. I told them I’d check my emails later and contact Amazon if necessary, then ended the call. As expected, no email from Amazon ever showed up.

Got a call from this number on my landline, I answered but no one said a word. Sat on the phone for around 8 minutes so they wouldn't ring back. It's pretty risky, people might pick up quick when busy and could get caught out.

Got a call at 1:50pm, I picked up and waited but nobody said a word. After reading other comments, looks like another scam, no surprise. These dodgy calls come all the time, sometimes more than once a day, from different scammers. Feels like it’s gotten worse during lockdown since we're home all the time. Proper annoying.

Got a call this morning from a woman with a foreign accent saying some bloke named Paul Thompson was trying to buy a smartphone with my Amazon account. She asked me to check my emails on the computer, but I told her I don't use one. Then she said she'd send the emails again and begged me to check them. I said I'd get in touch with Amazon myself, and she just hung up. Definitely a scam!!!

At first, the caller claimed he was from Amazon and asked if I’d made a £160 purchase the night before. He said I should check my emails and also what gadgets I’d used. I was suspicious and asked lots of questions. He got a bit rude when I asked why my devices mattered for the call. I demanded to speak to his manager, and then the person on the line said he was from Microsoft! I called them out on it, saying it felt like a scam, and he told me I should feel ashamed! Both speakers sounded like they had an Indian accent.

Someone rang saying they were from Amazon Prime security and wanted me to verify an email they supposedly sent. They had no clue who I was or which email address they meant. Definitely not the cleverest phishing attempt I've seen!

Got a call on my landline today one minute to midday, some bloke claiming to be from Amazon security asking if I’d bought a phone last night cos someone had broken into my account and could I check my email. Rang Amazon straight away and they told me it was a total scam. These calls keep coming every day now, so I just hang up on them. Never even linked my landline to my account anyway. It’s sickening how these scumbags try to trick people out of their money.

Just got a call at 11:59 on my home phone from someone claiming to be Amazon security, asking if I’d bought a phone last night as they said my account was compromised and to check my emails. I rang Amazon myself and they told me straight up it was a scam. I’m getting these calls all the time now, so I just hang up. I’ve never even linked my landline to my Amazon account. It’s awful how these scammers try to cheat people out of their money.

Not a single word was left! When I get calls with no voicemails these days, I can’t help but assume they’re up to some dodgy business! By what others have said, it seems this could be some sort of scam related to Amazon!

Just wanted to share - by around half past one this afternoon on the 30th Jan, there have been roughly 400 more lookups. Total's about 1938 now. So works out to be close to 200 searches per day. Noticed they don't do Sundays though.

TOTAL SCAM ALERT!! This one came up pretending they was from Amazon. Everytime i hear an Asian accent on the phone, i just hang up cause i know its a complete scam. They just keep ringing, using loads of different numbers, saying they’re from your bank, PayPal, HMRC or whatever they think you’ll bite on. It’s proper annoying and they should really be put behind bars.
