Scam calls about insurance and accidents. Right after I put up my ad on Gumtree, I got a call from someone saying they were a lawyer handling my compensation claim after an accident. They wouldn’t say my name, the car they mentioned, or my insurer, but kept asking me for those details to "verify who I am". Thing is, I don’t even have a driving licence!

I got a call from a Manchester number at 10.34 this morning. I suspected it was dodgy so I just ignored it and blocked the number straight away. After seeing the info here, I'm pretty sure I made the right call. My details are probably being grabbed from Gumtree since I put up an ad yesterday, and this is the sixth dodgy reply I've had.

Some bloke with an Indian accent called talkin’ about an accident, so I switched to posh and said the crash just happened this morning, drove me Bentley right into me Learjet and wrecked the engine, click, then he hung up. Oh well, guess I’ll find another accident fixer, hehe.

Utterly pointless trying to block these calls. They just ring back on a new number every time. Plus, some phone blockers only let you block so many numbers before they stop working properly.
