Got a couple of calls on my work line today from some bloke asking if there's any damp in the house. Told him it's a workplace number, not home, and that he'd already called once earlier. He just said it was his duty and hung up straight away. Bit daft really.

So, I missed this call and as usual, no voicemail left. That’s usually a dead giveaway that it’s a scammer, and judging by what I’ve seen here, I wasn’t far off. Normally, if I’ve got the time, I’ll chat with these scammy folk for ages just to waste their time, then suddenly call them out in the harshest terms for being the absolute bottom feeders they are. Fair enough, don’t you think?

A polite young gentleman, who clearly wasn’t from England, called asking to talk to my mum. I asked what the call was regarding and he mentioned something about her PPI claim being approved, saying she’d be entitled to a bit over £3000. I was confused and he explained it was linked to a mortgage she supposedly had. But there are three issues here: the mortgage was only in Dad’s name, she never put in any claim I know of, and she passed away back in 2019. When I brought these facts up, he did apologise, which I appreciated.

Got a call from 0161 818 6105, it’s a Manchester number but the person said they were from Leeds Council. When I asked what the call was regarding, they mentioned something about problems I supposedly reported with my housing to Leeds Council. I just laughed, coz I don’t live near Leeds or Manchester and definitely have no housing complaints.

Then he asked for someone with a name that sounded totally made up, nothing like mine. So I told him he must have the wrong number and he just swore at me before slamming the phone down. Proper rude.
