I didn’t pick up initially, but the call came from a local 0161 code, so I rang back. Nobody picked up, but then they called me straight away. The person on the line had an accent I couldn’t place and claimed it was something to do with #### control, and they were enquiring about rats in my area. When I told them I didn’t have any issue like that, they just said sorry and hung up. Felt a bit strange, to be honest...

Got a call at 7:10 pm, no one said a word and just cut off. I checked the number using 1471. Someone suggested keeping a football whistle nearby and whispering softly when they call, it makes them concentrate more and might make them crank up their own volume. Then you blow the whistle loud and clear. It’s funny but seems to work cause they’ve never dialled my number again since. Might end up with a work injury claim with that noise!

This trick never fails for me... Most of the time they try to tell you about a car crash you supposedly had. I just respond with, "Oh really, I did?" Then I add, "Well, if you say so, I must have been involved." They often claim they can assist you. At this point, I tell them how grateful I am they called since I must be suffering from memory loss and might be able to claim a lot of money. You can tell it makes them uncomfortable. Next, I ask for the specifics of the accident so I can report it to the police, as you're supposed to do, and exchange insurance info. I say I’ll note down their number and might even have to use them as a witness - hope that's alright. Usually, they get flustered and hang up when you press for details. It’s best not to get annoyed, just have a laugh instead! Haha!

The number showed a Manchester code, but the caller ID said it was coming from abroad. I picked up, but ended up hanging up straight away. There’s definitely a rise in dodgy numbers being used these days.

Dodgy accident claim firm from India. I let them wait on the line for ages, about 30 minutes, then told them to bugger off.

Got a call from some bogus personal injury firm. The bloke was claiming I could get a big payout if I said I’d been in a car crash.

I kinda regret not playing along, could’ve exposed those dodgy lawyers, but annoyingly they were calling from a private number so I couldn’t trace them.

I get calls from them like two or three times daily, always about some car crash I supposedly had. The thing is, I don’t drive and never have! They just keep pushing and won’t listen when I say no. Honestly, I’m so over it now.
