I didn’t pick up initially, but the call came from a local 0161 code, so I rang back. Nobody picked up, but then they called me straight away. The person on the line had an accent I couldn’t place and claimed it was something to do with #### control, and they were enquiring about rats in my area. When I told them I didn’t have any issue like that, they just said sorry and hung up. Felt a bit strange, to be honest...

They'll likely find themselves seeking some sort of compensation for workplace mishaps afterwards! It seems to have worked a treat, as they haven't bothered me again since.

Every single time, this little trick does the job! Typically, they’ll call and claim you’ve been involved in a car crash. You play along, asking, “Oh really? Is that so?” Then, when they say they can assist you, you jump in with, “How marvellous to hear from you, as I seem to be suffering from amnesia and could be missing out on a hefty payout!” The tone shifts a bit for them at that moment. Then you politely request, “Please, do share the particulars of this supposed accident - I’ll need that for the police report, you know, as it is required to swap insurance details.” You add, “I’ll note down your number to call you as a witness, hope that’s alright?” And when they try to dash off, you insist, “No, don’t hang up! There's potential cash in this for me!” I wager you won’t get far, as they often end up hanging up the phone once you push for specifics. Remember, keep your cool - it’s all in good fun! 😂

The number showed a Manchester code, but the caller ID said it was coming from abroad. I picked up, but ended up hanging up straight away. There’s definitely a rise in dodgy numbers being used these days.

DISGRACEFUL ACCIDENT CLAIM AGENCY FROM INDIA. They’ll have you on the line for ages before eventually telling you to shove off after thirty minutes! Quite the farce, really.

It seems I’ve been contacted by a dodgy personal injury firm. The bloke on the line was practically urging me to feign an injury from a car crash to score a hefty payout. Honestly, I’m kicking myself for not pursuing it further, as I could have exposed those unscrupulous solicitor types behind it all. But alas, they’re lurking in the shadows with this untraceable private number.
