I received a call from a woman who had a distinctly Asian accent, and she inquired about me by my name. When I requested the name of her company, her response was so mumbled that I struggled to comprehend it. I asked her to repeat herself, citing my hearing difficulties, but it was just as unclear the second time. She then mentioned that HMRC would be getting in touch regarding a refund owed to me in the near future. At that point, I firmly told her I wasn’t interested in what I suspected was a fraudulent call and ended the call. Subsequently, I made sure to block the number.

It was really weird how they already had my name and where I lived even though I hadn’t told them anything. I only confirmed my name when they asked. Then they wanted to know which bank I used (I didn’t say) so they could supposedly help me get a refund from HMRC PPI tax, taking 40% if successful, no win no fee. Felt odd they knew stuff beforehand. They kept pressing me about loans or finance deals I might have, but I explained I hadn’t any. Then, without even saying goodbye, they just ended the call! Pretty rude if you ask me.
