A chap with an Asian accent rang me, inquiring if I’d had an accident. I told him quite firmly, “No, and I’m not interested,” at which point he promptly hung up. It seems I've got a persistent caller, who’s just as monotonous as ever. I've signed up for the apparently ineffective Telephone Preference Service, yet I still receive calls from companies hawking industrial deafness compensation. Just today, a chap named Adam from The Hearing Clinic rang me up, and I had to tell him to cease all future calls from his firm.

Just had a robotic telemarketer ring me up, testing to see if I’d pick up. If I had, I’d probably have been bombarded with incessant calls from various Indian call centres pushing things like payment protection insurance, double glazing, solar panel installations, government funding schemes, or personal injury claims. It’s a right nuisance! OFCOM seems powerless to intervene since these scammers operate from abroad and just lease the phone numbers. A mere twenty minutes later, a bloke named Steve with an Asian twang reached out, insisting they hadn’t attempted to contact me prior. He claimed to be from the Hearing Clinic located in Derby, and provided the number 01132 340425, inquiring if anyone in my family had been exposed to loud environments since 1963. When I told him I had toiled in a factory, he asked if I wished to speak to his superior. I consented, but then the line dropped.
