Received a call from this number claiming to be from O2, stating I had an outstanding debt with them. They were quite persistent in trying to extract my bank card information but were rather vague about the specifics of the sum I supposedly owed or the reason behind it. When I firmly declined to share my bank details, they ominously warned me that legal action could be on the cards for my non-payment.

This appears to be a hub for number scavenging. They dial up various digits, and if you happen to answer, they pounce and peddle your details. It’s no wonder you’re bombarded with unwanted text messages filled with promotions. If they give you a ring, it’s best not to answer if they ring again; otherwise, your number might be tagged as legitimate and subsequently sold off.

Three rings and then silence - that’s a classic sign of a nuisance call, isn’t it? Don’t even contemplate picking it up; it’s bound to be one of those irritating messages about a so-called accident you’ve had, or maybe a so-called customer survey, or even a PPI claim - just a load of old cobblers!
