This number rings me a couple of times daily on weekdays, and it’s been going on for ages now. When I pick up, there’s nothing but silence or some muffled noise, sometimes with swearing in the background. No clue who it is, and I’m really not bothered to find out.

I've blocked all numbers from Manchester with the same first few digits but changing the last couple and still they keep calling from other lines! When I asked what the call was about, he said I was due a refund. I told him I couldn’t chat right then and asked if he could post me the details instead. He said no, because of some government rule or something!!! He was quite insistent and wanted to ring me back later, which I refused. In the end, he told me to avoid chatting and just block the number.

In just half a day, I've had six calls from a number I don't know. Neither me nor the caller said a word. I've gone ahead and reported it to Ofcom online as silent calls. If everyone reports these dodgy calls, maybe we can make it harder for these cowboy callers to get away with it.

I told him plenty of times to stop calling, but he wouldn’t, saying I had to claim what I was ‘owed’ first. He was really aggressive and rude, shouting and acting so arrogant. It honestly felt like harassment. In the end, I just blocked the number.

Got a call from someone claiming to be from the Money Advice Service about some insurance mis-selling issue. They seemed more keen on getting my credit card expiry and the three digit security code. I didn't give it out 'cos it felt fishy. Tried ringing them back but just got silence. Definitely a dodgy scam. Rang my bank straight away, and they've cancelled my card and are sending me a new one.

Today was different though - someone said they were from the Money Advice Centre and spoke about being overcharged interest on mortgages, loans and other credits. They mentioned doing a full credit check to find policy numbers for these credit agreements. That’s when I just ended the call, seemed like a total scam to me. The bloke even tried to say he wasn’t like those companies ringing about some accident you never had! Seriously, these scammers should be shut down by the government so we can have some peace without this nonsense constantly.

It’s ridiculous that they can’t be stopped, especially when some come from numbers like "No. Allen" or something weird, so you can’t even block those. The government really ought to do something about this, particularly to protect older people.

When I finally did, the bloke on the line claimed he was from the Money Advice Centre, saying it's approved by the Ministry of Justice. I asked him which rules they follow, and he couldn’t tell me. Then, I asked why the FCA doesn’t regulate them, and he had no idea. He mentioned that all legal stuff is dealt with by their sister firm, Thompson Legal. Sounds to me like they’re just chasing PPI claims.
