Got a call from someone claiming to be from an insurance advice bureau, checking up if my insurer did the right thing after a car crash claim. Turned out I was nearly caught up in a dodgy scam!

they’re just a cold calling outfit calling themselves harringtons advisory. i ended up reporting them to the ico today - they’re the ones who oversee data protection. the ico told me to send them a section 11 request under the data protection act, which forces the company to delete your info within 28 days. you can even do this by email, so thought it might be useful info for others dealing with them.
