I've been getting calls from this number over and over, and most times, nobody picks up. However, today was different as they actually mentioned my first name. Instead of confirming who I was, I inquired about who was on the line. An individual with a British accent replied, but the connection was dreadful, so I had to ask him to repeat himself. It sounded as if he claimed to be representing legal services, mentioning he would ring back, but that never happened. When I tried to return the call, there was no ringing; instead, music played as soon as I dialled. It seems like a dodgy scam to me. Always be cautious and never affirm your name or answer any questions, as that information can be recorded and misused in scams that could end up costing you a fortune.

I kept picking up because I wanted to find out the company’s name, but their accent was so hard to catch that I just gave up in the end. I blocked the number and reported it. Like others have said before, you really need to watch what you say to these callers, as they might record your voice and splice bits together to make you sound like you agreed to stuff you never did. Be cautious with them, and honestly, I feel bad for the folks who have to do this kind of work.

WARNING: I got loads of calls from this number and just kept ignoring them. Finally, I picked up to see who it was. The bloke wouldn’t say who he was, but kept going on about some unclaimed money I was meant to get. He couldn’t say where it was from though. I think he was trying to get me to say which bank or credit cards I have, but when I said I don’t have any cards, he just hung up on me.

The most recent number being used by a 'business' calling itself HA Advisory, claiming they can help with PPI claims. I told the first person on the phone that I wasn’t interested, asked to be taken off their list and blocked the number. Didn’t stop anything - as soon as I block one, they ring from a different one. Numbers included 0161 814 8157 and 7433 too. My phone has logged over 30 calls from them in just over a month. I’ve now reported everything to the ICO (www.ico.org.uk).

Update: The calls are coming from a PPI firm named HA Advisory. They’re using an autodialler to ring. I’ve made a complaint but they say they can’t remove me from the autodial list, so I’m planning to report them to the appropriate financial regulator.

If you get silent or dropped calls, make sure to report them to OFCOM. These scammers really don’t mind if you moan online, but they do get bothered when OFCOM gets involved - and it only takes a few minutes. Also, if you’re not signed up with the TPS, you’re just asking for it. Your phone provider won’t help much anyway since they make a profit from selling caller ID services and charging for call blocking.

Properly rude! Got a call from them last night just as I was heading home from work. When I picked up, I asked what the call was about, and I clearly heard a bloke in the background say “sod that!” before hanging up. Then, the same number rang me again this morning, and when I told the woman on the line I didn’t want any more calls and told her what happened yesterday, she just ended the call!
