Got a call from this number, and when I said "hello," there was a short pause before a guy with what sounded like a south-eastern accent asked for Mr Tom. I immediately knew it was a scam because I’ve had loads of calls like this from different numbers over the years, always asking for Tom. I guess they reckon Tom’s a common name around here, so they expect quite a few people to answer.

This morning I got a call from someone named Amy claiming to be from a Life Insurance review centre. When I asked for her location she said Liverpool. I told her my phone showed the call was coming from overseas (that wasn’t true but it caught her off guard for a moment). She said she wanted to verify my policies were current, but I told her they were fine and ended the chat. Another scammer wasting time - these calls are a real nuisance nowadays. Number’s been blocked now.

Got a call from someone about a life insurance review, something like “Life Review Company”. I told them I’d report them to the ICO and said I never agreed to be contacted, then they claimed I’d ticked a box online allowing the call. They got pretty aggressive and then just hung straight up. These numbers need to be blocked and the firms need to be taken to task for these dodgy calls.

What a frustrating call! They claimed I needed a life insurance review. I calmly explained I hadn’t agreed to any review and already had an IFA managing my finances. The caller then insisted I must have missed ticking some box and suggested I rethink my IFA’s service. I told them (a) missing a tick box isn’t a reason for an unsolicited call, and (b) it’s not for him to question my choice of IFA. The conversation went downhill when he started arguing over who was right, so I ended the call. No respect or customer awareness at all - I’m definitely blocking this number.
