Most of these calls seem like robot diallers just guessing numbers. When you pick up, no one's on the line. Honestly, it's about time there was some proper legislation to tackle this annoyance. Perhaps the government could set up a scheme where you could report these calls directly to an official body, who could then slap fines on the offenders for each nuisance call. It could even raise some cash for the NHS, which couldn't hurt.

Got a call from some Indian chap, knew my name and even the start of my address. He kept grilling me with questions like if I’ve ever had a credit card, a mortgage, my age, car ownership, if I work full time, all that jazz. Every time he said 'just one last question'. Got a call from some bloke who was proper rude and mumbling loads - sounded like he was somewhere noisy, maybe a zoo or something. I didn’t bother giving my name and told him flat out that I wasn’t the phone’s owner, even though I actually am - just wanted to see what he’d say.
