01617680150 started with a robotic voice then a man with a foreign accent, same as others have said, claimed to be from Ofcom, said I had to update my broadband or it would be cut off. I told him I wasn't buying it, he asked “why you not believe” then I hung up and blocked the number through BT.

We get endless scam and spam calls like this. I’ve reported them to the proper authorities. Sometimes they help, other times they say there’s not much they can do with the details I provide. Thankfully, I've got a BT 8500 with call guardian, which blocks any call not in my contacts and asks who's calling before letting it through. It gives me a heads up about who's on the other end, so if I don’t recognise the name, I just don’t answer. Buying this phone has seriously cut down the hassle from all these unwanted calls - it’s like my new best mate. You don’t even have to be with BT to use it. I’m in my seventies and just want some peace without being hassled all the time.

Got a call early this morning, about 8 o’clock, from someone claiming to be from Ofcom offering to boost my internet speed. They insisted I fire up my laptop right away - probably to get remote access or something dodgy like that (didn’t happen!).
Strangely, there was a pause between the phone ringing and them actually answering, and when they did, it was a guy with an Asian accent clearly reading from a script like a robot.

Loads of calls like this at strange times. This one was an Indian woman, but basically same message as before. Her accent was hard to catch, but I caught that if I gave her a bit of time, she promised no more calls from that number! Told her I was expecting a call and couldn’t chat. I keep getting calls almost daily from places like survey firms, PPI people or those tech support ones. Sometimes it’s like with this number, as soon as I pick up the line just cuts off. I always answer cause sometimes it might be work but it means interrupting whatever I’m doing, like when I’m outside gardening or coming down from the loft. Got a call from this number just a few minutes ago. Didn’t pick up, and honestly glad I didn’t after seeing what people say here. All I heard was silence on the other end before they hung up without saying a word. In the last 30 minutes, I’ve had three calls from three different numbers. This was the second one. I looked up the first two already and both turned out to be dodgy. I’m going to check the last one now. It had an international prefix (003158839090), so I’m guessing it’s no good either (and yep, it’s dodgy too). Feels like the scammers took a break over Christmas but they’re back full force today. This number has buzzed my phone a few times with silent calls. Once, a bloke with an Indian accent but a very English name spoke to me. Didn't cut the call, just put the phone down and let him rabbit on by himself. The TPS doesn’t do anything about overseas calls or those survey ones anyway. A few weeks back, I got a ring from this number and the person on the other end claimed they were conducting a survey. I wasn’t interested so I just ended the call straight away, then saved the number as 'Survey' in my contacts, thinking I might get another call from them. Just a short while ago, the same number popped up again. Before they could even start, I said, "I don’t do phone surveys, sorry." The caller, who had a strange accent, then asked, "Why are you so afraid?" I stayed silent, and then out of nowhere he shouted, "I’M GOING TO KILL YOU!" Can you believe that? Totally shocked me!

They’re using a VOIP system, basically a voice over IP dialler that’s routed via a UK landline or business number, making it look like they’re spoofing. At the moment, the name they’re giving is ‘My Consumer Survey UK’. They claim they’re calling from public databases, but when challenged - especially since they were ringing a government department that wouldn’t be on any public list - they kept asking to speak to a ‘home owner’. If you ask for any details, they just hang up immediately.

I keep getting silent calls at night, which is super frustrating! Whenever they finally talk, they get really rude because I won’t answer their questions. There’s got to be some way to put an end to all this.

This morning I got a call and told them the person they were asking for had passed away the night before (just something I made up) and that I was their carer. Not sure what the proper term for carers is these days, but I’m pretty certain it’s not something rude like motherf***er...!!

I get calls from this number a few times every month, always trying to reach some Mr. Branch. When I tell them they've got the wrong person, they claim they're conducting a survey and ask for my personal info like name and address, which I obviously don’t give. I then tell them to stop calling, but they get rude and threaten to keep ringing until I participate in their survey. The voices I hear on the line usually have a heavy accent that sounds Indian. I've signed up with TPS but it hasn’t made any difference. Anyone know how to put an end to these annoying calls?

I get calls from this number pretty much every day, always at the same times, which is super frustrating. Because of my disability, it's difficult for me to get to the phone quickly, and yet it's this annoying number again. Normally I'd just ignore it, but I'm expecting a really important call, so I have to answer.

Said he was calling from Computer Safe over in Wolverhampton, something to do with Coquetdale - I tried asking for the full address but his accent made it impossible to understand. Rings me up daily even tho I'm registered on the do not call list.

Everytime I pick up they just drop the call, it's really frustrating. These sort of people are a real nuisance and should be dealt with. What’s the point of Ofcom or the police if they don’t do anything? Seems pointless spending on these agencies when the government isn’t stepping in to fix the problem.

I've been getting loads of quiet calls at all sorts of times throughout the day... it's really odd.

They keep calling me about 3 times every day. When I told the bloke to stop, he said he'd just keep ringing until I answered what he wanted. This has gotta be harassment, right?

Got on the line with this cold caller who was just so rude, used awful language on me. Absolutely the worst call I’ve ever had.

They keep ringing me up even after I told them to stop and that I wouldn't be answering any of their questions. They were shouting and yelling at me non-stop. They claimed the only way to make them stop calling was to reply to their questions. There's a different number doing the same thing, it's 01729568147. Both times, as soon as I mentioned I'd report them to Ofcom, they just hung up.

I have no clue what they're saying, yet they just won't stop ringing me. I've reported them to the telephone preference service and ofcom, but it feels like no one is actually doing anything about it!

Ken, seriously, don’t bother calling this number back! It’s a total scam and if you do, the cost will be through the roof. The caller sounds Indian but uses a very English-sounding name. Just avoid it, scam all over again!

Got a silent call with a recorded voice saying it was for some market research - defo not from any legit MRS registered firm. Makes real market research look dodgy.

Fed up with all these calls that go unanswered when I pick up. I’m disabled and have been registered with the TPS ages ago, yet these annoying calls keep coming nonstop.
