noticed a few folks put up ads on gumtree not long ago and got calls pretty quick, same thing happened to me. They used the number 0161 468 1450. With the lag and the accent, I reckon the callers are based in india. If you say you want to discuss a claim you’ve already submitted, they pass you to someone here in the UK who also sounds indian. Just keep them hanging, waste their time, and it’ll end up costing them. They’re not fans of that, I can tell ya.

Right after I posted my ad on Gumtree, I got a call like straight away. Turned out to be one of those car accident scams. Didn’t even bother listening, just hung up on them.

I just updated a few ads on Gumtree, and within minutes I got a call from 0161 232 1000 claiming to be from the RAC. Then, I received another call from a different number saying they were from accident management. I looked both numbers up online and found loads of others had similar problems. I've since blocked both numbers.

got a call earlier today, 28th july 2020, from a guy who sounded asian asking about an accident i never had. obviously a scam so i just hung up and blocked the number straight away.

Since I put up an advert on Gumtree, this number has been non-stop ringing both my mobile and home phone. It's so annoying and feels quite threatening. I'm convinced it's some insurance scam going on here.

I listed my car on Gumtree and got two calls from different people. I gave one person directions, then told the other they must have dialled wrong and ended the call. If they ring back, I’m thinking of having a bit of fun with them just to pass the time.

If you’re selling your car on Gumtree, be ready to get hit with about 6 or 7 calls from people trying to pull that insurance accident scam. It happens loads with adverts like that. Definitely keep an eye out for these dodgy scams when putting your car up for sale there.

So today I got a call from this company saying I'd been involved in a road traffic accident. I decided to humour them and see what info they had, but all they knew was my name, phone number and car registration - nothing else. Over the last couple of weeks, I’ve had loads of similar calls and it feels like these scams are on the rise. Honestly, be really careful if anyone rings up saying they’re dealing with a claim for you. To me, it’s more like harassment, so I just blocked their number straight away. Hopefully this heads-up helps someone else!

Right after I put my ad up on Gumtree, the phone started buzzing non stop with calls, all saying they were from the claims dept. When I asked who exactly they were with, they said some government agency. I told them that it’s actually illegal to pretend you’re from the government, then they just cut the call. Quite suspicious!

I told a claims verification company that they were doing something illegal by calling me since I'm registered with TPS. They just cut the line straight away.

these scammers are everywhere! whenever i post a private ad on gumtree, i get calls straight away from so-called accident investigators and similar rubbish. sometimes the numbers show up as london or manchester. just a total waste of my time.

Got a call from road traffic management about a car crash I supposedly had last year. I told them it must have been pretty bad cos I don’t even recall it at all, maybe i've got amnesia. Then I told the guy to quit spamming me with these calls and hung up straight away.

Been getting loads of calls from the Manchester area code lately, and I reckon they're mostly scams. Just now, I saw a missed call but didn't pick up since I didn’t recognise the number. No voicemail or anything left behind either.
