Got a call from someone saying they could sort out PPI claims. They even had my name, which felt a bit odd. I told them I haven’t had PPI for decades, like 40 years or something. Even after I said I wasn’t interested, they kept pressing me for info. I just hung up and blocked their number straight away. Then, I got another ring from a number that looked similar, 01617381975. I’ve reported them to the FCA, the Financial Conduct Authority. If anyone else is getting calls like this, definitely let the FCA know.

First he said his name was Paul Thompson, but when I asked him to say it again and spell it, he switched it up to Paul Thomason. He was pretending to be from an accounting company or something like that.

Got a call from a lady named Lisa who said she needed to talk to my husband about some refund from HMRC. I asked her where she was calling from because the number she gave didn’t line up with what showed on my phone. Then she said she was calling from HMRC in South Africa. I received a rather peculiar phone call today at precisely 14:36. A chap on the other end claimed he could assist me with a tax refund, but when I mentioned that I don’t actually pay tax, he swiftly pivoted to offering help with a PPI claim instead. Someone rang me saying they were from HMRC and that I had some sort of tax refund linked to an old PPI claim I probably hadn’t heard of. They claimed they wouldn’t ask for any personal info or bank details. I asked if that was right, and they confirmed. I just told them I was well aware of what they were saying but didn’t buy it at all, then said goodbye and ended the call.
