Got a call from 0161 733 6246 supposedly from the department of health and social security. Seemed dodgy to me, especially since they said they were local but the number doesn’t really match up with where they claim they’re from. Definitely felt off.

I received a call from someone wanting to chat with my husband, who sadly left us about four years back. The caller claimed to represent the Computer Licensing Company. I informed them of his passing and mentioned that I highly doubted he’d be needing his computer these days, then I promptly ended the call.

Just got a ring from this number. Since I’m waiting on a hospital call, I always answer any 0161 numbers, but it turned out to be a scam which was proper annoying. Fingers crossed you can help put an end to these calls, cheers!

A woman called me up, and I immediately recognised it as another scam, as I’ve been inundated with these so-called ‘computer problem’ calls for ages. I firmly asked her to cease all communication and erase my number from her database, warning her that I’d involve the police if necessary. Her dismissive reply was, “Go ahead, I’ll keep calling you.” Absolutely dreadful behaviour! I’m definitely reporting this number and have now blocked it. It’s appalling to think how this would affect vulnerable older folks.

Not sure who it was, no voicemail or anything and the number didn’t look familiar. I guess it’s probably a scam since I don’t know anyone nearby, plus it’s not the first time they’ve rung. I’m registered with TPS so it’s pretty irritating!

Got a call from someone called Steve, but his accent was clearly South Asian, which just didn’t add up. Usually, when a name and accent don’t match up like that, I’m immediately suspicious it’s a scam. He claimed he was from the computer licensing team and asked me to verify if I’d been using my PC - I said yes, then they just ended the call. Maybe I bored him or he gave up on me. When I’m free, I like to waste their time a bit. Do people even get caught out by these scams nowadays?

Got a call earlier today claiming my Windows licence was about to expire and I had to renew it. I’ve dealt with this scam before, about a few years back, and it almost cost me £170 but luckily my daughter spotted it and stopped me just in time. Turns out the company isn’t real at all.
