Got a call from this number claiming they could stop all my nuisance calls. They already knew my name and where I live, then asked if I pay my phone bill through direct debit and wanted to confirm my bank info. Looks like the latest scam is all about eat them up. This week alone I’ve got loads of calls from 020 and 0161 numbers trying to sell call blocking. I’ve had to keep telling them no since I use loads of different numbers anyway. I’ve warned them that if they keep ringing, I’m gonna report them to Ofcom. Got a call from this number today around 2.27pm. There was this weird silence for a bit, then they warned me it’d be a cold call. When someone finally answered, I just hung up straight away. Pro tip: if these scammers try asking for your bank info, just feed them rubbish details - they’ll soon stop bothering you once they realise you ain’t falling for it.

Got a call from someone with a strange accent saying they were from the telephone preference service, saying they could block all those annoying scam and junk calls. They even knew my postcode, which made it sound legit at first. But then they asked me to confirm the debit card I use to pay my phone bill, and that’s when I just ended the call. I get calls from this number nearly every day, sometimes up to ten times. They keep mentioning some kind of poll. I've asked them to stop ringing me quite a few times now, but no luck. I usually don’t share any personal details and just keep asking questions until they get fed up and end the call. If you get a call from a number starting with 01617 or 016167, just ignore it. I’ve stopped answering those ages ago because it’s always some kind of rubbish. I’ve blocked them on both my mobile and home phone now, and they just go straight to voicemail. Weirdly, no one ever bothers leaving a message. Makes you think what’s really going on?
