Over the last few days, I've gotten about five calls from someone named "Tom" talking about loft insulation. Eventually, I figured out that Tom is just a recorded robot voice. Every time he rings, it’s from a new number: 0161 676 1954, 0161 676 1956, 0203 747 7635, 0203 747 7633 and 0203 955 9807. They’ve made it seem pretty clever by pausing during the message so it feels like he’s actually paying attention, but trust me, it’s all automated!

He reckoned he’d already surveyed most of the local area, but when I asked him to confirm my postcode, he quickly dodged the question. I told him twice quite nicely that I wasn’t interested, but he just kept talking over me like he was on autopilot. In the end I just hung up. We have our number unlisted and are signed up to the TPS, so seems dodgy to me.
