I received a rather dubious phone call from someone purporting to be with the life insurance evaluation team. They were relentless in attempting to extract all manner of personal details from me, but I promptly cut the conversation short. The whole situation felt incredibly suspicious, leading me to suspect it's a scam of some sort, especially since I've never even considered life insurance before.

Beware of Life Cover scams! Loads of people getting calls about it don’t even have any insurance. Don’t just block the number - do the right thing and report it to ACTION FRAUD by calling 0300 123 2040 or check their site for info. It’s really important we stand up for our older folks and those who might be easily tricked by these pushy scammers.

i keep getting calls about some ‘life insurance’ i supposedly have, which i definitely don’t, all coming from a different manchester number. told the person off and blocked the first one right away. now this new number called me 3 or 4 times but i just ignored and blocked it as well. what really freaks me out is how they somehow know my name. i bet they’ve bought my details from somewhere sketchy - that’s the bit that makes me uneasy.

I then asked how on earth I could upgrade something they wouldn’t tell me about, and they said they didn’t have that info to hand! They were polite enough, but since I don’t even have life insurance, it wasn’t really about me upgrading anything. So I told them there was nothing to talk about and ended the call.
