Today alone I got two calls, and four over the whole week, all saying they were from Microsoft. They kept telling me my PC was involved in some hacking stuff. When I mentioned I've got a Chromebook, the bloke just said he’d ring back in ten minutes and then ended the call.

A woman with a strong accent called me regarding my computer issues again, and this is now the second day in a row. Today, the call came through quite early at quarter past eight. Purporting to represent Microsoft, the caller insisted my computer had been compromised. However, they didn't specify their association with any organisation. When I requested the company's name, the director's identity, and a contact number, I was insulted with some choice language. It’s rather absurd to expect me to provide personal information while they remain vague about their own details. I informed him to delete my information from his records, as I’m registered with the telephone preference service. It’s baffling that these types of callers are still operating! Why isn’t something being done to shut them down?

I received a call from someone purporting to be from Microsoft, supposedly located in 'West Berkshire', Reading. I found it a bit odd that a company like Microsoft would even reach out in such a manner, and when I pointed out that the area code they used was actually from Manchester instead of Reading, she became quite defensive before abruptly ending the call. Quite the curious encounter!

This lady with an Indian accent said her name was Jane and told me she was from some "Microsoft Support centre". She started saying that my computer had suspicious activity because of hackers or something. When I told her that Microsoft doesn't even have my number and called her out as a scammer, she got really annoyed.

Got a call from someone saying they were from Microsoft, warning me they'd shut down my computer. They were super pushy and seemed well-prepared to handle any doubts or refusals. I rang the number back afterwards, and an answerphone picked up with a message along the lines of "Applied Systems Technology" before mentioning their voicemail was full and to try again later. I’m pretty sure it's a scam, though it might be spoofing the phone number of a legitimate business.

Received a call claiming to be from "Microsoft" where the caller informed me that my computer was sending error alerts. I mentioned that I used to work in IT, which is absolutely true. I then fibbed and said that my computer was powered down, so there was no way they could be receiving any error reports. To my astonishment, she had the audacity to debate with me! I promptly advised her to disconnect and be on the lookout herself for a potential scam.

I’ve experienced the same thing. They kept calling my phone, insisting that my computer was compromised. It rang incessantly, around eight times in total. The person on the other end was rather aggressive, practically yelling at me! I mentioned it to my son-in-law, and he confirmed it’s definitely a scam. The phone just won’t stop ringing. What an absolute bother!

My other half got a call like this on our home phone. We're pretty clued up about dodgy calls, so straight away we just blocked the number. Received a call around half past twelve today from a chap claiming to represent Microsoft, complete with a thick Indian accent. I initially played along, mentioning I was also with Microsoft, and instantly he fell silent. It gave me quite the chuckle, and I promptly hung up. If you're curious, have a look on YouTube to see these jokers in action. They're the sort that tries to trick you into granting remote access to your computer under the guise of providing support, all while demanding payment in gift cards to keep their dodgy operations under the radar.
