This number has been blowing up my phone quite a bit recently, with daily calls ever since 20th April 2021. I always block any number trying to pitch me something or claiming to be from some company. Plus, if they sound like they’re calling from a call centre, straight to block! I only bother answering calls I actually want. It’s frustrating that the phone companies don’t seem able (or willing?) to block those spoofed caller ID calls coming from overseas as well!

After looking into them for 7 weeks, I'm pretty sure they're just the typical crooks out to nab people's bank info. Best way is to give it back with a load of swearing till they get angry and start threatening you. Feels good knowing they'll probably face court in the end.

Someone was asking if having mould or cracks in your walls might be related to some kind of government inspection or rule or something.

Said she was calling from the council repairs team. When I asked why the number was showing from Manchester, she said they handle housing issues for both my council and Blackpool. I told her we live like 200 miles away from Blackpool and then asked what the call was about, but she just ended the call.

A bloke rang me saying he was from Harving Industrial Repair talking about some damage to my building. When I asked where they were based, he said Canary Wharf even though the number started with a Manchester code. He just ended the call when I asked for more details about the company.

This number called me a few times, so I finally picked up. The guy was asking about equity in my house. I said I’d moved away, then he wanted my new address. I told him I wasn’t happy giving that out and they just ended the call.

Got a call from a bloke with an Indian accent who said his name was Liam and he was with some ‘housing repairment scheme’. Never heard that one before. Told him to shove off, but I’m sure they’ll try again. The number’s always a Manchester one, and I only picked up because I was expecting a call and wasn’t sure where they were calling from.

Got a call from someone in India who had my name but the wrong address, saying I was owed money for repairs on a council house. She kept trying to get my personal details, but I didn't give anything away. I pretended to go along with it and told her she’d got the wrong place. She then asked if I still rented, and when I said no, she just ended the call.

I got a call from a bloke with an Indian accent, saying his name was Liam and that the government had passed on my number about some housing repairs. I wasn’t convinced, so I asked a few questions. Then a woman named Alex came on, telling me a solicitor would handle my case and I'd get some compensation. They kept asking for my info. I kept pushing back because I knew it was dodgy - I don’t live anywhere near the place they mentioned and never reported anything about Covid 19 to any government. Proper scammers. They really need to be shut down.

a woman named Claire called me with a very strong Indian accent, saying she was from the council’s housing repair dept. i told her we rent through a housing association and they handle all repairs, then she just abruptly hung up on me. i’ve blocked that number now.

They've rung me a couple times but I ignored it, then my daughter picked up. They claimed they were calling about a roof problem. Wanted my info to fix it. She told them to call back when I was free. Next thing, they asked if she could give them my details, including full name, address and even bank info! Lucky she didn’t give anything and hung up. Now they keep calling like twice a day. Got a call from a woman who sounded Asian, saying she was from "Housing repair." She claimed she was following up on a complaint about council or housing association repairs that I'd apparently made about six months ago. I told her I hadn’t done any such thing, but she insisted someone else had. I asked her to remove my number from their list and said I intended to complain about the call. Then, just like that, the line cut off.

Saw a post from 04/11 that explained what to do about these scam calls. I’m not sure if anyone actually tried it? Honestly, reporting these dodgy calls is probably the best chance we’ve got to get rid of them if people really want it to stop. Blocking helps a bit, but these crooks just ring back from another number anyway.

This bloke claimed he was from the housing repair crew, couldn’t help but laugh a bit. When I asked why he was ringing me, he said it was to fix any damage to the house. So, I played along and told him my call was actually sent to my place in Fiji and that the windows were in dire need of a clean. He just hung up on me, proper rude! Honestly, don’t bother picking up if this number calls you unless you fancy having a bit of fun winding them up.

Beware, this is a scam number! You should definitely report this call and these details to Action Fraud so the police can take notice. Just search for ‘Action Fraud’ online, go to the ‘police.uk’ website, find the reporting section, pick the phishing option, and scroll past the scam email bit to file your report. It’s really quick, straightforward, and you don’t need to sign up or anything. Keep safe out there, and do your bit by reporting every one of these dodgy calls trying to scam us all.
