Answered the call and there was just silence, so I said hello, then a woman with a very genuine sounding voice asked ‘can you hear me’ a few times. She then claimed I was selected for a free solar panel check. Before I could respond it wasnt for me, I hung up, but she kept going. Though it did sound like the same lady, soon it started to sound like a pre-recorded message. I ended it and blocked the number. I’m sure it’s just some scammer who’ll ring again from another number.

At first, they asked if I could hear them alright, I said yes, then there was a short pause before they asked about some health problems - which isn’t true for me. I said again I could hear them fine, a brief pause followed, then they said I might be eligible for an alarm and asked to check my details. That’s when I ended the call. Got a call about supposed changes in Government rules about paying for care homes and danger to property owners. They said it’s on the news and the BBC have been reporting it. I’m not convinced that’s true. They tried to set up a meeting with an adviser to explain why I should put my home’s value into a trust. Anyone giving Financial advice over the phone has to say who they are and their company, but this person never did. To me, it sounds like they were being dishonest and trying to trick me into something I’d regret.

Pretty clear its a scam call, they just keep jabbering even if you stay silent. Watch out cause they might be trying to record what you say. Don't fall for it!

I didn’t pick up the call but looked up the number using a reverse phone lookup and discovered it’s a VOIP number (Voice over Internet Protocol). These numbers can be set up anywhere online and are often used by scam call centres, especially those based in India, trying to make you think the call is coming from the UK. These VOIP numbers tend to be temporary and mainly used by scammers. If you try to ring them back, the line is usually dead or won’t accept calls.

It was like a robot on the phone. Claimed to be from an energy consulting firm and wanted to discuss solar power options.

I usually dont answer calls unless I recognise the number, this one has called me a few times but never left a message on my voicemail which I use to filter calls. I always look up unknown numbers here just in case it’s something important, but this one is defo a telemarketer or scam! This website is seriously handy!
