Just got a call from this number and it felt dodgy straight away, like everythin gpointed to a scam. They claimed to be linked with HMRC and said they could help me get back overpaid tax from PPI claims. I asked them to spell out their company name several times because all I got was a load of mumbling, so I still have no clue who they actually were. They seemed to know quite a bit about me, but it was obvious some of it was fake because they kept asking me to confirm my own details - supposedly for security reasons! Anyway, I’ve blocked this number from my phone now.

SCAM - Got a call telling me I could claim back tax rebates on PPI through HMRC. I’ve never had any PPI at all and asked them how they even knew I qualified. They just kept going on about tax owed on PPI and never answered me. Told them this was a scam and that I was ending the call, then they went silent. I blocked the number after that.

Don’t fall for it, it’s a total scam. I got a call from this number saying they’d helped me sort a PPI claim ages ago, which I never actually did. Today I got a ring from this number and the person said they were from a law office trying to help get money back for tax on PPI claims. They wanted my birth date, but I asked which bank the claim was about, and they refused to say. I told them I’d ring back another time and asked for their firm’s name, which was Philips & Hardwick. They insisted I click on a link to facilitate a tax rebate they supposedly wanted to secure on my behalf. When I declined to engage with the link, they became quite irate. I reminded them that there are numerous advisories against clicking on such links, and I requested that they send me proper documentation instead. After that, I swiftly ended the conversation.
