At work, I got a call on my direct line. I picked up but said nothing. After a brief pause, they just hung up.

Today, on the 11th of October 2023, I noticed I received a couple of calls on my home phone from this particular number. When I picked up, there was absolute silence on the other end. Previously, I had been plagued with several calls on my mobile from a woman who was rambling on about my loft. The thing is, I don’t even possess a loft! I politely informed her of this, and she simply hung up. Yet, she would persist and ring me back a few days later, and it became a bit of a routine. I suspect it’s the same person, as her accent has a distinctly Mancunian twang. I tried to verify if it was indeed the same number through 1471, and it pointed me back to 0161 5261857, a number clearly hailing from the Manchester area.

This morning I got a call from 01615261857, some bloke claiming to be from UK housing repairs. He said they fix any damage in your home for free, and if you’re not happy, they’d pay you a month’s rent. I mentioned I had mould problems and he asked me to send pictures via WhatsApp. I refused and said I’d email them instead. Even after giving my email, they kept pushing for WhatsApp pics. Eventually, I told them off and said don’t bother calling my landline again, cos I’m not falling for their scam, I know better than that.

On Friday the 22nd of September 2023, at about 10:58 in the morning, I got a call from this number. The connection was really unclear, and the only word I caught was “hello,” spoken with what seemed like an Asian accent. I couldn’t make out anything else, so I ended the call. After that, I tried dialing 1471 two times to check the caller’s number, but both times, the person on the other end just hung up. I have absolutely no clue why they were ringing me.
