Received a call earlier today, 15th September 2023. The person on the other end had a heavy accent and I had to ask her to repeat her name thrice, but still missed it. She claimed to be from my service provider, O2, although I'm not even with O2! There was quite a bit of background noise, which struck me as odd. Having spent 46 years in various large offices and call centres, I know they are typically designed to minimise such distractions. It felt like the call was being routed from a dodgy operation overseas, likely some sort of “sweatshop” arrangement. Everything about this interaction screamed SCAM. I decided to hang up and block the number promptly!
