I received a call on my landline from a woman who wanted to chat about energy matters. It was clearly a cold call, completely unexpected. When I inquired about how she obtained my number, she mentioned having access to a database. I pressed further, repeating my question, and she abruptly hung up on me. I have a hunch that a company in Manchester, which carried out some maintenance for me prior to lockdown, may have sold off my personal information.

I chose not to answer the call. There was a brief connection, but the caller didn’t bother to leave a message. Whenever this occurs, I make a point of investigating the number before opting to block and erase it from my contacts.
