Got a call from some guy saying he was from HMRC, sounded like he had a really heavy Indian accent and his English was all over the place. He kept going on about how I owed unpaid taxes, which made no sense since in the UK they take tax straight from your wages. He even said he was from Birmingham, but honestly it felt like a total scam. Definitely don’t share any info with callers like that!

I received a call on my mobile from this number, and when I picked up, I was greeted by a recorded message in an American accent, claiming to be from the tax office. He then proceeded to request my postcode, but I refused to give it. It all seems rather sketchy to me, and I'm convinced if it were important, HMRC would send an official letter.

Received a recorded message claiming to be from "HMRC." When I returned the call, a chap on the line insisted he was with HMRC and requested my solicitor's information. Naturally, I inquired why that was necessary, to which he responded it was regarding outstanding taxes. After a bit of back-and-forth, I told him he was nothing but a scammer and ought to be embarrassed. His response? A rather rude "F off" before he abruptly ended the call. Charming, isn’t it?

I've had the same experience - just received my second call today (I've since blocked the number). They even left a voicemail message, and it was definitely in an American accent.
