Someone rang me saying they were calling on behalf of folks who've had car loans before. Oddly, they mentioned my name but had no clue I've never actually had any car finance. Sounds like typical scammy behaviour or maybe some dodgy ambulance chasers trying to make a quick buck off those new finance refund schemes - which, by the way, you can claim on your own without paying them a penny!

I spoke with a woman who had quite a thick foreign accent. I let her know that I was struggling to grasp what she was saying, and she simply ended the call on me.

Got a call from some overseas call centre, but oddly they were using a UK landline number. They somehow knew my name and my late wife’s too, but the line was terrible so I couldn’t make out much. Something about updating my tech was mentioned. I told them they were scammers and just ended the call.

On 13th April 2022 at around 3:40pm I got a call from 0161 520 2726. A woman with an accent named Milly got on the phone and asked me to confirm my address and postcode, and whether I owned or rented my home. She said it was about a "new heating technology upgrade" scheme. When I asked which company she was representing, she said "ATV Company," which sounded dodgy. I mentioned I’m on the TPS and questioned her about it. She quickly said sorry and promised to take me off their list, then politely wished me a nice day. Seems like a scam or just a way to collect info to sell on.

The person on the line kicked off by inquiring about my folks: sadly, they've been gone for quite a while now, which suggests they're relying on outdated records. When probed further, she admitted to being part of a call centre over in the Philippines - perhaps still getting the hang of things. She was touting a complimentary check-up for loft insulation. It makes one wonder just how long that ladder must be to reach from the Philippines to the Midlands, doesn’t it?

Beware! This con artist is attempting to pilfer your banking information by pretending to be staff from Carphone Warehouse. He dangled some enticing phone offers in front of me, but it didn’t take long to realise it was a ruse, especially with that obvious foreign accent of his. Stay vigilant!
